(DL) The hatching <finally!!>

David walked back to his table beaming, a proud smile across his
face. He had just danced with a beautiful women, and she actually
smiled. Ames looked at David and give him a wink. As he sat down, Ames
smacked him on the back.

"See, I told ya that the lass would like ye." He said, as if
proving a matter of fact point.
"Sure, da. Whatev'r ye say." David smirked. "Ye just wanted t'
see me do it."
"And ye did. From the look on ye face, I beleive that ye had
a very nice chat as well." Ames barked another laugh as David blushed a
deep red. All of a sudden the room was quiet as dragon's roars filled
the cavern. Christalla rose and announced, "The eggs are hatching."

It seemed as if this announced chaos as people rushed in
every direction. Ames and David found a dragonrider and asked where the
hatching ground was. He pointed the way and David set out for it. Ames
followed the rest of the onlookers to the seatings above.
He and the other searchlings were organized into lines as he
prepared for going out onto the blistering sand. Meditating for a
second, soon he found himself in 'fosken' <the void>, and pain seemed to
be a secondary thought, his mind set upon a single purpose. David could
sense his dragon out there on the grounds, his psychic intuition
screaming like a beacon. He could see Evelle and Michel on the grounds
also, their faces a mixture of wonder and anxiety.
David allowed himself a small grin. Without fosken, he would
feel like that too. But hard training had driven those feelings from him
for the moment. He waited for his dragon.
Soon the first egg hatched, and a small purple dragon wandered
about, struggleing to find it's searchling. It was pitiful compared to
grown dragons, but its frame promised to be every bit as strong. A young
man unknown to David stepped forward and picked up the small dragon,
holding it high. 'He has found his dragon.' David thought and wished the
others luck. He knew his dragon was out there, and he was never wrong
about these feelings.
"His name is Berlan!" The young man shouted, and a cheer rose
from the crowd.
Soon dragons of all colors hatched and spread through the
searchlings, and as one found the other, they shouted out their names.
	"Laishan!"
	"Ber'kain!"
	"Minuette!"
David waited patiently, and even in the void grew a bit nervous. What is
he was wrong. As the thought skipped through his mind, something rubbed
against his ankle and he looked down. A small black dragon with gray
flecks of all colors was looking up into his eyes. Large green eyes at
that. David grinned and picked it up and held it high, its weight
causeing no problem for one who has worked with metal.

"I am Kaylin'sha." A voice said inside David's mind, and suddenly it
was as if a million voices exploded inside his head. A shudder ran down
his body as his mind was filled with joining sensations. It was like
being born again, every color looking brighter and more precise. Putting
Kaylin'sha down, David staggered. The voices would not quiet down as
dragons thoughts from the entire warren bombarded him.
David shouted out, "Kaylin'sha!" and fell to the ground, his mind
overloaded with voices.......

NRPG: Not the sort of thing that happens every day. But yes, David is
one who can hear all Dragons thoughts. As soon as he gets the
hang of it, he'll be fine. When he awakes, he will only be able
to hear thoughts from dragons who send them to him.
Dont you hate it when joining enacts a latent psychic abbility? ;)
