Can you please add this post to the archive for sometime in August? It would have been before the 22nd, but I'm not sure what date. Thanks, David H, M/X Admin ******************************* Day 10...evening. The warren was quiet for a change. Sarilyn was glad of that. There had been too much noise, confusion and chaos of late, and the peace was doing her a world of good. Sort of. She was bored. Bored and Sarilyn didn't make for a good mood. And she was pissed, and lonely. But she knew the one thing that would cheer her up, mostly. She headed for Lunath, and decided to get her back on her exercises. The sooner she was able to pass a physical from the healers, the sooner they could go back to their apartment...their lonely apartment. 'Dammit, Sari, just shut up thinking that way. Brooding about love and romance and all that totally impossible stuff...especially *here* will do no good', she thought to herself as she wandered towards where Lunath was curled up, watching her with glowing eyes filled with love. "Come on, dearest, let's get you in flying form again. I want to go back to our apartment, and...well...just be with you, I guess." Moving side by side, rider's hand placed tenderly on dragon's side, they walked until they were in a rather private spot with room to maneuver. *Wings up, love. Let me check to see if they're fully healed yet.* Lunath lifted first one then the other, letting Sari explore every inch of membrane. She nodded with satisfaction. *Keep them up for a moment, let me check your side, ok?* The young woman moved close, caressing her dragon's side, pressing in at points and watching and listening for reactions. The fact that she also felt none made her heart sing. *Breathe in deeply, as deep as you can, dearheart. Tell me if it hurts or stitches up.* The pretty blue took a deep breath, and wriggled, causing Sari to let out a soft chuckle. "Hold still, silly!" ~You're got your fingers against my side and it tickles!~ "Oh!" Sarilyn moved her hand, and watched closely. Lunath *seemed* all right. But there was one more thing to check. She moved a bit away, about the distance of a short newly-joined first flight hop, and then waited. *Ok, launch and take a short flight to me. Tell me if anything hurts.* Lunath launched, and took the short distance with ease. Then she landed, and warbled softly, clearly delighted. ~Nothing hurt, can we go home now?~ Sari hugged her dear dragon close. *Not until the healers say you can fly, and clear me for duty again, love. But I can ask that someone check us both out later..* ~All right, if we've waited this long....~ Then the astute blue changed the subject. ~So, why are you still upset then?~ Walking alongside her dragon, as both got in some exercise, Sarilyn blinked and glanced aside. *Why do you think I'm upset? I'm thrilled you are able to fly and don't feel any ill-effects from our accident. Chai did a wonderful job.* ~She did, and I will thank her again, but I meant...when you first came over to see me. You were, and still are, upset about something. Human emotions again?~ A small commotion at the gate had both dragon and rider turning to see what was going on. They watched as one of the guards let in a man, and he began wandering around the warren, looking around, both figured. The guard backed off and allowed M'rdith his space. Walking around, he looked at the warren. Not much had changed since he had last been here. It almost felt comfortable, save for a few changes. His simple white tunic and green breeches were well worn, his brown boots were nearly worn through. Looking at his hands, he noticed the age contained with them. It had been awhile since he had held a sword or thrown a knife, but given the opportunity, he could do it again. Moving his hands over his face, he felt the lines around his eyes and mouth. His long white hair hung back in a ragged ponytail, a light blue streak running through the middle. "Gods I'm old, Corragh." **Yes, but you're alive. Look sharp, we've got visitors.** Looking forward, he saw a few people advancing towards him. **Looks like the old man is going to be checked out further.** "Would you please be quiet. I'm not a threat! I don't need to be checked out!" M'rdith shouted just as the group arrived, looking rather confused. Sarilyn blinked, and gave Lunath a soft pat. *He looks uncomfortable, love. Maybe he doesn't like crowds? I know the feeling, I didn't use to like them either. I have an idea! Watch him will you, don't let everyone make him too uncomfortable...I'll be right back.* Sarilyn took off at a slow trot, towards the dining hall, and Lunath simply wandered over, watching the newcomer curiously, but not getting too close. A few moments later, Sari returned, carrying a tray, and gently 'Excuse me'd' her way through the small group all but surrounding the strange man. She spoke in a soft voice, not wanting to startle or upset him..or the group of people looking...no, staring at him curiously. "I know we're all curious, but maybe if we let our guest have something to eat and drink first, and rest a few minutes, he won't feel so overwhelmed?" As she was speaking, she was pulling a sneaky. And soon Lunath had gently moved through the small crowd until she was effectively blocking the onlookers from the man. Sari turned, offering the tray. "You look as if you can use something to eat, and drink. Rest a bit, then you can meet everyone else, or see whoever it is you came to visit. But I wasn't raised to let curiosity take precidence over hospitality." She gestured at Lunath. "You can relax against Lu if you want to. No one will bother you while you're eating, she'll see to that. If you want her to move, just tell her so. And I won't bother you either, if you'd rather be by yourself for a while." Then she moved to give her dragon soft and loving scritches. "This is Lunath, by the way. And I'm her rider, Sarilyn. Welcome to Xylian Warren. If you need anything, just ask." As she talked, she unconsciously twisted the ring she wore on her finger...her father Aelxirn's ring, with his seal on it. And thanked her lucky stars that some of what she'd learned about hospitality had stuck with her. Even though she was letting things of late affect her more bubbly nature. ~Human emotions...I thought so.~ She gave a glare to Lunath, and sighed softly, as she flopped next to the great head, caressing it gently. *No, just tired love. Of the women hating me thinking I want their men, and the men hating me thinking I'm only good for one thing...and that's all I want..which it isn't. I wish I didn't have to feel at all.* ======= [NRPG: Welcome Weeda! And tag! Glad you're here! :)] Submitted by: Jeanette Bloomfield, Sarilyn/Lunath YOU NEED TO BELIEVE IN THINGS THAT AREN'T TRUE.
