Lakoda- Day of Kirimith's mating flight (probably early evening)
***
Lakoda was feeling pretty good as she arrived at the med center. It
must have something to do with not having to worry about someone
second guessing your work, she thought as she walked through the
front door and waved at the nurse sitting at the front desk doing
paper work.

"Well good evening Koda," the woman smiled when she saw her. "You're looking
chipper this morning."

"Amazing what a good meal and a nights rest will do for a person,"
Koda winked as she went on by.

She was just heading to the break room for a started cup of coffee
when D'ssarian the head medical healer at Marrid called out to her.

"Lakoda," he called, "There you are. I've been looking for you."

"What can I do for you?" This morning she was ready for anything.

"I have a patient I'd like to confer with you on."

Lakoda grinned, "Of course. Lead on."

"Well, she's not here right now. Come in my office and I'll give you
the history."

Lakoda followed the aging healer into his office and took a seat as
he closed the door behind them.

"She's a 29 year old woman, with a history of early miscarriages. He
moved to a file cabinet and searched quickly through them, "She had
three already. One at 7 weeks, one at 8 weeks and one at 11 weeks."

He handed her the charts with all the tests he'd done. "We've tried
several different hormone treatments and so far it hasn't been
effective."

"She wants to get pregnant again?"

"She is pregnant again. Not very far along, but I'd like to do
something right away. Before it's too late."

Would there be any chance that I might be able to examine her?" Koda
asked. "Not to say that you probably haven't done that already." She
was quick to add, not wanting the healer to think she was doubting
his work. "But sometimes a fresh eye can spot things that someone
familiar with the case may have missed."

D'ssarian smiled was one of understanding. The look he gave her told
her he didn't take offense to her request. "Well under the
circumstances I'm sure it could be arranged. In fact, I'd appreciate
the second opinion, for I'm all out of answers. I've tried everything
I could think off."

He noticed her flinch at his use of the words *second opinion* and laughed.
"Relax. You're not at Falagand any longer. I'm the one
*asking* for your help."

"Old habits," Koda half smiled. "Are sometimes hard to forget."

"Yes well, be assured I've had no complaints about your work here.
Point in case Shep Swordson. The young man's well on his way to full
recovery, and he has you to thank. You and that little red bulb of
yours."

"Which I wouldn't have even know about if someone at Falagand hadn't
of mixed up the dried Tejas flakes with the herbal tea bowl," she
admitted, a bemused expression on her face. "You should have seen
the med center that day with everyone falling asleep..."

She changed back to the original topic, "How soon do you think
you'll be able to set it up for me to see this woman?"

"I'll make the arrangement's as soon as I can," he returned. "The
sooner you look at her, the better I'll feel. If you could come up
with anything, anything at all that'll help... She just can't lose
this baby. Not with everything else she's going through." he sighed,
his eyes moved to look out the window, but Koda got the feeling he
wasn't seeing anything out there.

Her eyes went to the top of the chart to find the name of the patient.
Something she over looked before. Waylene! The Warrenlady? No wonder
D'ssarian was so concerned.

"I'll do everything I can to help," she promised the man, and meant
it. After Waylene had given her a second chance with no questions
asked. Lakoda felt she owed her. "I'll get started right away by going
over your notes. After I take a look at her, I'll let you know if I
come up with anything."

"Thank you."

(Somewhere in the Warren....)

"No!!! It couldn't be true! Not now! Not after everything I've had to
go through to drive a wedge between them.

"He's mine!!" the woman thought heatedly when she heard the news.
"She can't have him back. Not when I finally have the chance I've
been planning for all this time. That bitch isn't going to ruin it
for me. He should have been mine and would have been if she hadn't
of come to the Warren. Baby or no baby...the woman gave an evil
laugh, I'll have him yet!
