"Lakoda, the Warrenlady's here," D'ssarian said from the door way
of the female healer's office. "Do you have time to see her now?"
"Of course," Koda replied getting up from behind her desk. The
reports she had been going over could wait, the woman outside
couldn't. After reading and rereading the woman's medical records,
Koda was stumped. She hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary in
the reports. D'ssarian had been very through. So why then did
Waylene keep miscarrying.
The elderly healer had taken the time earlier to explain a few
things that had been happening with the Warrenlady and her ex-mate.
Not being one to gossip, D'ssarian had wanted Koda to be aware of
the kind of tension the woman had been under.
"M'lady," she greeted Waylene when she entered the examining room.
"Thank you for taking the time to come in today."
"Lakoda," she smiled back. "I hear you're about to see if you can
perform your second miracle here at Marrid."
"Well now Ma'am," Koda grimmest inwardly. "I don't know about
miracles, but I'm going to do my best to see if I can find out
what's wrong and between D'ssarian and myself, we're going to do
everything we can to make sure this baby gets born"
"I want you to know how much I appreciate you going through the
trouble," Waylene said, forcing a smile. "But I'm afraid I hold
little hope that this time will be any different from the times
before."
Koda turned from the counter where she had been setting up the
instruments she'd be needing, to look at the woman sitting on the
high bed. Her heart went out to her. Not as her Warrenlady, but as
a woman who shared the dream of one day having children of her own.
"That's got to stop right here and now," she said kindly but firmly.
reaching out to take the woman's hands in her own, giving them a
gentle squeeze. "You have to start thinking positive thoughts. We'll
do everything we can to help, but you will need to keep yourself
calm, and rested."
"Around here?" The Warrenlady chuckled. "You're asking a lot."
"I believe you have a point there," Koda grinned. "Let's get started,
shall we?"

(D'ssarian's office sometime later)
"I just can't understand it," she later told the healer as they
sat discussing the test results. "There doesn't seem to be anything
wrong with her. According to all the test I ran, they show that
she shouldn't have any trouble carrying a baby to full term." She
frowned, frustrated at now being able to come up with something
helpful. No miracle solution this time.
"Now you see my problem," D'ssarian was also frowning, disappointed
by the test results as well. "I kept coming up with the same thing."
"There's got to be something I over looked," Koda muttered as she
leafed through the file yet again. A knock at the door broke the
silence in the room.
"Is it lunch time already?" the older healer asked, eyeing the woman
standing in the door way with a food tray in her hands.
"Aye that it is, Healer," the woman's smile was wide as she stepped
into the room and placed the tray down on top of the desk in front
of D'ssarian. She ignored Lakoda, all together, as if the young
woman was beneath her notice.
"I'll be back later on to pick up the dirty dishes and the plates
best be empty," she gave him a baleful glance and then her turned
and walked out of the office.
"Bossy woman," D'ssarian quipped, grinning as he watched her go.
"But she does make sure I eat a good meal at least once a day."

With a quick glance up and down the hallway to make sure no one was
watching, the woman slipped silently inside the room where medical
supplies and drugs were kept. Without hesitation, she moved acrossed
the room and opened the door to the drug cabinet. With the quickness
of one knowing what she was after, the woman reached up and took down
a jar. Removing four of the green thorny leaves and putting them in a
bag she had ready, she then returned the jar back to it's place on the
shelf. Slowly she opened the door leading back into the hall way just
a crack, before slipping back into the hallway unnoticed.
"It won't be long now," she though evilly as she waved to the nurse
at the front desk on her way out of the med center. This time she
would do it right. This time she'd make sure that bitch would breathe
her last. Then there would be no one to stand in her way. Without her
around, they would finally be together. Just as they were destined to
be.
