Minty came awake slowly, stiff and cramped from her long night in the chair.
She looked across to David, and found him staring at the ceiling with a
decidedly dejected look.  He looked a little better this morning, although
he was still slightly flushed. 


"Good morning love."  he said with a smile when he saw she was awake.  "Ye
looked t' need the rest so I didn't wake ye.  Have ye been there all night?"


Minty yawned, and rubbed the sleep from her eyes before answering him, not
sure how much to tell about the previous night's excitement.  He saw the
doubt in her face and reassured her quickly....


"I've already spoken t' Kay and he told me some of what happened.  I didn't
mean    t' worry ye so love." he grinned.


"Kaylin was worried about you... he couldn't reach your mind at all in the
end.  And even when he could you were incoherent.  He said you had some
really strange dreams.  Do you remember any of them?"  David shook his head
"Well there's time for that soon enough.  I'll let D'ssarian know you're
awake....."


"No need for that, I've already seen this restless young man this morning.
Here, this'll help your headache." he said, handing David a pill and some
water.  "I just need to take a look at your shoulder....."


D'ssarian unwound the bandages, and carefully prodded the neat stitching.
Gentle as he was David still winced with pain....


"Tender?  Well maybe you'll take better care of it.  I don't want you out of
bed again today.  Rest, rest and more rest."  D'ssarian redid the bandages ,
and turned to Minty.  "I don't suppose your mate told you he'd been up and
around did he?"


"What?....."  Minty gasped


"I didn't think he had!  I found him outside not half hour ago, seems he
went for a little walk while you were asleep!  I've told him I'll strap him
to the bed if necessary... perhaps you could make sure it's not!"  D'ssarian
was smiling, but he was serious  "He's to do nothing more strenuous than
turn the pages of a book."


"Can I have visitors?"  David pleaded  "I think I'll go mad cooped up in
here all day. Sorry love, no insult t' ye... but I'm not a good invalid."


"I don't see why not.  Not too many and not for long though.... you're to
rest."  D'ssarian said grudgingly  "Now I just need to have a quick chat
with your mate...."  he took Minty's arm and guided her towards the door


"I'll be right back, love." she promised with a sweet smile, and a gleam in
her eye that told David he was in trouble.

When she returned twenty minutes later she white-faced and trembling.  She
sank into the bedside chair, not speaking, unwilling to look David in the eye.


"What did D'ssarian tell ye, love?"  he asked alarmed at her manner  "Is et
worse than he said?  Will t' shoulder not heal properly?  Tell me for pity's
sake....."


"He didn't want to talk about your shoulder."  her voice shook slightly  "He
wanted to discuss the fainting spells I've been having.  He seemed to feel
he knew why I kept passing out with no warning...."  


"Well what's wrong wi' ye?  Is et serious?" David demanded, worry showing in
his abrupt tone  "Tell me!"


"He thinks I might be pregnant." she said in a tense whisper


"You're WHAT?"  David's voice rose in surprise  "How?"


"The usual way love... you know..... you and me naked on a bed!"  Minty
tried desperately to make light of the situation 


"Is et definite?"  he asked, a tiny grin tugging at his mouth for the joke.


"He said he'd let me know the test results later.  What am I going to do,
David?" she turned frightened eyes to her mate
