She lay still, conscious of aches, but wrapped in a soft fog.  Her thoughts
vague and unformed.... she remembered the lake and the dreams.... then
blackness.... no wait there was more... wraiths  <*wraiths... they were gone
for the time being... fought off on that awful day when David found the
amulet*> coldness and aloneness and pain and voices in the dark and hands
clutching at her.....


*Minty?*


*Kirimith!. Did I dream it all?  The jump back and taking that thing?  Was
it real?*  Minty asked, frightened by the gaps in her memory


*You did it.  You took that thing from him......*  Kirimith reassured her


*And David?  Is he alright?  I seem to remember hearing his voice....* her
thought trailed away as she sought the memory of a grieving voice  


*He's fine Minty.  He owes much to you and Arri.  I think you're going back
was the only reason that Arri was able to do what she did.  Kaylin says when
the bond broke Arri was able to reach the real David and help him. *
Kirimith answered her


*No-one must know Kiri.  Don't tell anyone what we did, or how we did it.
What we did... the timeport... was very dangerous.  I shudder to think what
the knowledge could do in the wrong hands .  To change what has happened
<*shudder*>.  Secrets Kiri...promise?*


*I cannot promise*  Kirimith's said, ashamed  *I told Arri what you had done.*


*Tell no-one else*  Minty said  *I will not have that on my conscience.  I
will talk to Arri and explain... there must have been others who discovered
that dragons can jump through time as well as through space.. they saw fit
to keep it secret, and I'm sure Arri is responsible enough to see the wisdom
of it.  David must never know, sweeting.  He is too strong-headed... *


*I will keep it from David and Kaylin and any others.*  Kirimith promised  


*Thank you sweeting...*


Minty opened her eyes, the dim light showed her she was in a room in the Med
centre.  David was seated in a chair beside her bed, eyes closed, face a
mask of grief and worry....


*What am I doing here Kiri?  I don't feel sick, why am I here?*


*It would be best for you to talk to David about that.  He is there...*  


*I know he is.  But why am I here?*


She shifted slightly, barely making a noise... but it brought David alert
and to her side. She smiled at him, and reached to caress his cheek, glad to
see him well for the first time days...


"Hello love."  she licked dry lips, her voice a croak  


He held a glass of water for her to sip, and she drank greedily before
trying to speak again


"Why are you in the chair and me in the bed?"  she asked him, puzzled by the
strain on his face and the sadness in his eyes

Bets... Timeporting isn't general knowledge, usually discovered by chance as
in Minty's case.... so Minty will ask Arri to keep it a secret,  and Minty
will NOT tell anyone, even Arri,  she now has that amulet.
