D'ssarian - Morning while Waylene is in meeting with Godred.
***

The man was heavily sedated and there were two armed guards in the room
when D'ssarian entered. Not knowing what was wrong with this man, the older
healer was being extremely careful. As he neared the man he heard the
ramblings of an obvious mad man.

".. we will prevail .. death .. dragons .. kingdom of wraiths .."

"Those ramblings sound awfully familiar," said a quiet voice behind him,
causing the healer to jump.

"C'tain, don't do that me!"

The younger healer chuckled, "Sorry, Dad."

"Between all the death and murder and this man's gloomy ramblings, the last
thing I need is you sneaking up on me! Besides, your off duty now anyway!"

"You've been up most of the night too remember, I can't let you do all this
yourself."

D'ssarian sighed then smiled warmly at his son. "I appreciate your help."

"I know," chuckled C'tain.

D'ssarian looked back at the man, "In any case, you're right they do sound
familiar." He turned to one of the guards, "Were you anywhere near Tressa
recently?"

"We went past Tressa on our journey here."

"We stayed a small inn about 20 miles out of Tressa that night." Added the
other guard.

"Have you ever seen this happen to anyone else." D'ssarian asked.

The two men shook their heads, "Never."

D'ssarian looked at his son. "Keep him sedated. I've got to go see the
Warrenlady."

Waylene

>David opened the door, and bowed to Waylene first, then to the lord.
"Warrenlady. Lord Godred." He said, then looked up. "I had heard that
Perion was killed last night by a member of the Guild of Swords. Since I'm
part of the guild, C'tain thought maybe I could help you with what was
going on...."

Waylene smiled thankfully at David, "Any help you can give would be
appreciated, David."

"Can ye tell me, what it es exactly tha'happened?" David asked.

Z'lec began recounting events, and was somewhere in the middle of the tale
when once again there was knock at the door.

"This place is busier then my office," Godred mumbled with a chuckle.

"Come in," Waylene called, ignoring her fathers comment.

D'ssarian walked in. Looking around at the crowded room, he said, "I'm
sorry, for disturbing you, but you wanted to hear as soon as I had anything."

"That's find D'ssarian, we were just talking about your patient." She
smiled, "What do you have?"

"Well I have theory. Nothing more. But you remember the man that T'rend and
the young riders brought in last spring?" Waylene nodded, her face paling.
D'ssarian continued. "I think there's a good chance this could be the same
thing."

"Hellspawn?" asked Z'lec.

D'ssarian nodded.

"What the hell is a Hellspawn?" asked Godred.

Waylene turned to him. "Don't you keep up with Utha in Tressa, Lord Godred?"

"Utha? Haven't seen him in quite a while. I hear they been having some
trouble with wraiths lately."

Waylene nodded, "Or more specifically what is known by the local populace
as Hellspawn."

"What does this have to do with Shep Swordson? He's not a wraith. Why his
father and his grandfather have been in the Lendenval guard for years
before him."

D'ssarian explained to Lord Godred what they had so far been able to
discover about hellspawn. Godred's face paled, "You mean they take over a
person's body? And you think this is what has happened to my guard?"

"I can't be sure without surgery."

"Remember what happened last time, D'ssarian." Said Waylene quickly.

The healer chuckled, "I won't forget that, m'lady. But it's the only way to
be sure. Unless we wait until he's dead. As a healer, I don't like that
option."

"Do you think you can save the man? Make him what he was before?" asked
Waylene.

"I'd like to think so. The man we got from Tressa had been a hellspawn for
a little over a week. This man .. less then two days, if I'm estimating
right and he became infected when they were near Tressa. There's a
possibility that maybe there hasn't been too much damage done yet."

"But how do we protect you, this time."

"I'll be better prepared this time. I know what might be in there."

Waylene shook her head. "I can't allow it unless your safety is ensured."

"What about a modified flame thrower. Something smaller for use in the
room." Asked D'ssarian. "Who was the young man that made those?"

"M'kale." Said Waylene sadly, "I don't want to ask him right now. He just
lost Sky .."

NRPG: If anyone has any ideas, jump in :} Mike, Waylene will be very
hesitant to come to Mukale .. but she might if no other choice can be found.

Don't know if we can save this man or not, but it's worth a try ..
