Aura

Aura and Waylene landed in Daere followed by their escort. And the golden
queen graciously greeted the highest ranking queen of Daere. As she caught
up on gossip with Victroy, she began to feel the presense of one of her
own.. one she had not felt in far too long .. He heart sung!

<Hello, my mother,> the pale grey and white Danavin called to her.

<Daughter! You are well?>

<I am,> the younger dragon purred happily purr at Aura's welcome.

<Come and join me while I talk with Victroy.> Aura called, longing to feel
the warmth of her daughter once again.  She had left  Marrid with her rider
nearly five years ago, causing an ache in the queens heart, for she loved
all her children, which by this time numbered nearly 200. Not all still
alive .. not all still in Marrid. But all still held a peice of her.

Waylene greeted Daere's tall, dark-haried warrenlady, Jayleigh. She'd only
barely met her at Velara's funeral before ..

Marrid's Warrenlady pushed those thoughts from her head and forced her
smile as Jayleigh greeted her.

"M'lady Waylene you will never know how much your coming here at this time,
means to me and the people who live here."

"Well after reading your letter, I couldn't bring myself to say no,"
Waylene told her as they began walking towards the Warren offices, leaving
the two Queens to caught up on Warren gossip. Neither were aware of the
pale grey and white dragon who was now cuddling with Marrid's golden queen.
"I can well understand why you felt you couldn't fulfill the duties
yourself."

"No... it just... wouldn't have been right," the taller of the two said.
"No one who have believed I cleared him for any other reason than because
he... shared my ..bed."

"I can see your point, but surely..."

"No it's better this way. With you here to sit in judgment there can be no
claims of me playing favorites. Now I can show you to the apartment we've
had prepared for you or if you're hungry and would care for something to
eat? My head cook does a wonderful thing with Cream Tolmay that is to die
for?"

Waylene smiled, as best she could. "I'd really rather just rest for a
while. It's been a long afternoon."

"Of course. I understand."

Did she really, Waylene couldn't help but think. She wondered if Daere's
warrenlady knew about her seduction of the blonde wingleader she was
supposed to sit in judgement of. She didn't think so, or else she most
likely wouldn't be here.

She debated on whether or not to tell Jayleigh, but in the end she decided
she wouldn't. "I'm sorry  that you've been put in this position. I can't be
easy."

Jayleigh shook her head. "It's not. But we muddle through." Waylene nodded
and Jayleigh smiled, "So how are things at Marrid?"

Waylene grimaced, "Always falling apart .."

"That bad?"

"Sometimes," she shrugged, "My wingleader is missing, and my junior queens
have left the warren in search of .. gods know what."

"Oh my .. I didn't realize.. And yet you came here?"

"Actually I was nearly pushed out. My aide thinks I needed to get my mind
off our problems if even just for a day. So here I am."

"And we are grateful.  If you're sure you're not hungry, I can show you to
that empty apartment."

Waylene nodded,  "That would be great."

"It's not much .."

"I'm sure it'll be fine." The two walked back out toward the queens and for
the first time noticed the third dragon with them.

"I see Danavin has taken a liking to your Aura."

"Danavin?"

"Yes,  her rider is .."

"Nefiri."

"Yes.." Jayleigh said. "You know her?"

"Danavin is one of Aura's children. Hatched... 4 or 5 years ago, I guess.
It caused quite a stir at the time, as she was there to feed the
hatchlings.. not join to one." Waylene smiled, "But you know you dragons.
I'd thought she'd moved to Telnor .."

<<breakfast next morning>>

Waylene had been having an enjoyable breakfast with Jayleigh, her parents
and her young son. The boy seemed a quiet lad, and it seemed to bother
Daere's warrenlady, but her mother assured her he was fine.

Waylene turned to Jayleigh's mother, "Realee, this is delicious!"

"Thank you, dear."

"I thought I'd miss Cook's faire while I was here, but I can see I was
wrong," Waylene grinned, "With food like this under my belt, I shall be
more then ready for the hearing this afternoon."

"Good," Jayliegh smiled.

As she finished the last of the eggs on her plate, Waylene spotted theyoung
girl with the dark copper red hair. It was Nefri. A bit older .. more
mature .. but definitely the girl who had surprised them all by joining to
one of Aura's children. "Excuse me, please," She said to those sitting with
her at the table. "I would like to pay my respects to Nefiri."

She stood and made her way to where the woman stood, "Good morning, Nefiri."

<<just before the trial>>

Waylene had butterflies in her stomach. Not the nice small ones you got
when excited.. but the big huge ones that came in and threatened to make a
person lose their lunch! The more she thought about sitting in judgement of
the man, the more worried she became. She'd not seen him since she arrived
.. which was probably a good thing.

"This way," she heard Jayleigh say as the warrenlady lightly touched her elbow.

She started to follow and then froze. Jayleigh looked back at her in
surprise, "Is something wrong?"

"I .. I .." she sputtered, "Jayleigh, I have to tell you something .."

"What?"

"The night of Velara's funeral .. uh .. Tair'n gave me a ride home .."

"Yes, I know, I was there."

"You know.." Waylene breathed a bit easier, "Oh .. I can't tell you how
much easier that makes this for me. I was sure if you know about me
spending the night with him, you'd be upset. I mean it's not something I
do, normally," Marrid's Warrenlady began to ramble in her relief, "I mean,
I was split from Z'lec, and I was angry with him .. and Tair'n .. well he
was a bit drunk and .. well willing.  I felt bad about Z'lec breaking his
nose .. but he just went red when he caught Tair'n in my robe .."

She suddenly noticed that Jayleighs face had taken on a look of shock and
she stopped, "Jayleigh .. Oh gods .. you didn't know did you?"

Justin, my apologies for neglecting to inform  you she'd left the warren :)
Boy is Waylene gonna find a changed warren when she returns !!! Poor girl's
liable to have a nervous breakdown! Quick bring the smelling salts!
