Z'lec turned to see Waylene's horrified look .. then looked back at the
mutilated bloody pulp at his feet .. the blood on his hands.. and the anger
in his heart.

"Z'lec .." she said, but her voice only served to aggravate him .. he
couldn't look at her.

She moved toward him, and reached out to touch his hand ..

.. but he pulled away, "I don't want your pity!" he hissed.

"Z'lec, that's not it .. You .. you saved me."

He looked back at the dead soldier, "I .. I gotta get out of here." He
turned to run

"Z'lec .. wait .."

He paused, "I don't care about anything anymore, Waylene. I didn't do that
to save you .. I was .. just angry."

"That's not true." She said shaking her head.

"It is .."

"No .. I need you. I need your help. Kendal too .. Don't just run away."

"I'm NOT running away!"

"Please," she said, "Please help me get Kendal to a healer .."

"You're still gonna go there! Even after what almost happened!" he said in
disbelief.

"I have to."

"You are the most pig-headed! Stubborn! Impossible! .."

"And I need your help."

He groaned, "I'll help this time. But don't think I didn't warn you. When
you get taken as a hostage .. and Kendal and I are dead .. DON'T say I
didn't warn you!"

When they emerged into the med center they quickly found Ailill and handed
Kendal over to her care. Ailill filled them in on S'an's battle with
Larguad. "Most of his soldier's are out there now .. watching .. waiting. I
don't think they care one way or other. If Larguad wins, they'll continue
the attack on the warren. If he losses, I think they'll all leave .."

"Not much loyalty in his troops is there .." Waylene shook her head, still
unable to believe they hadn't run into anymore soldiers. Perhaps many
hadn't dared to brave the interior maze of tunnels within the warren rock.
