[DL-M] Lotsa Work

After the young Lord walked away Trak spoke with the Warrenlady briefly
before catching up with the status of the Wing. He was really glad to hear
about Z'lec, he'd have to go see him before the day was over and check in
on his good friend and see how he was really doing. Trak suspected that it
wouldn't be to well. Poor Z'lec had gone through a lot these past days.
Trak was guessing that he would never be the same, but there was a chance,
he'd talk with Koda about Z'lec and she might have some answers for him.
After getting the report that the Wing had everything under control he
decided to try and seek out Z'lec. He stopped in the Med Center to look for
him and check on the riders that were injured. He informed the staff that
he would need all the names of the dead in the morgue that he would be down
there later if they wanted to wait for him. He would soon have the ever
grim task of informing loved ones what they already knew when another loved
one didn't return from battle. They was always the chance that a loved one
was missing in action, but not usually. He also inquired about the young
rider Yasmine.
Next on his list of places was the Temp Camp with the other injured. He and
Mayhem popped in and talked with Koda quickly, "I need a list of all the
dead, of actual bodies seen and matched to a name, no guesses. I already
informed the staff at the Med Center. I'll have any spare riders helping
your staff back in the Warren to get the Med Center cleared out for all
these injured folks. I'm sorry but it looks like yer gonna be staying the
night here. I also brought you a couple more guards, supplies and food and
water. See you in the morning ma'am. And by the way... Yer doing an
excellent job." That said he popped out before she could reply... He didn't
want to be there all night arguing with her just in case.
After the Temp Camp, he headed to get some food real quick and took it up
to his office. He had Mayhem relay that he wanted to see the Wing on the
green this evening to talk with them and see how they are all doing and
discuss search plans if any of the riders turn up missing. After eating and
taking care of some paperwork, he leaned back, threw his feet on his desk
and got as comfy as he could and nodded off for a few hours before the
meeting with the Wing.
<Wake up!!> came Mayhem's rumbling thoughts.
<Huh? What?> he fumbled back.
<We gotta get up and meet with the rest of the Wing on the green. Hurry up
we're already late.> Mayhem replied.
<Ok. Ok. Tell them we'll be right there,> Trak said.
A few minutes later he was on the green and addressing the Wing. "I
apologize for running late. I'm also sorry to drag ye all from yer families
and loved ones. I need to know how everyone is doing? I know for some of
you this was yer first battle and you saw things that were not very
pleasant or not sure of. Also this is the time to discuss any strategy and
go over things like that while the battle is still fresh in our minds. As
you all know, I'm always open to suggestions and new ideas on how we could
have done things differently. I would like to discuss that first. Now, as I
said if anyone was bothered or unsure of something they saw and doesn't
want to speak now... Please come to my office and see me and we'll talk
about it. Now let us get on with the dissection of the todays battles."
They continued on for the next few hours and Trak had food and drink
brought out to them so they could finish up and not take a break. He also
told them that he needed half the Wing in the morning to help bring the
injured back and that the other half could have the morning off and to
report around noon tomorrow on the green, before dismissing them.
He hadn't eating during the dissection and headed to the dining hall for
some grub. He saw the Warrenlady when he came in and headed to her to see
how see was doing, "M'lady..."
>"Please don't call me that, Trak," she said, defeat in her voice.
>
>He looked at her curiously, "What's wrong. We won."
>
>"Did we?" She asked motioning around the dining hall that was filled with
>injured "There's no room for the injured .. though at least their alive."
>
>"That is something I wanted to talk to you about."
>
>She looked up at him, her eyes full of concern. "Did you find Z'lec."
>
>"No .. but I'm sure he's around. Sina says he's still weak and it's
>unlikely he could go very far."
>
>Waylene nodded, "So what was it you wanted to talk about?"
>
>"I left Lakoda and the Telnor rider with the injured from the morning's
>wraith battle. I don't think we're prepared to bring them back yet tonight.
>But I've got people working to clear space and set up the canopy for the
>injured dragons."
>
>"So you want to leave Koda out there .."
>
>He grinned, "Well that's one way to put it."
>
>She chuckled, "I understand."
>
>He started to reach out a hand to her, then thought twice about it and
>pulled back. "Why don't you go home and get some sleep."
>
>She shook her head, "I'm not tired."
>
>He raised and eyebrow, "I doubt that."
>
>"I'm sick of that apartment, Trak .." she sighed. "I don't want to go
>there. Z'lec .. well, the old Z'lec still seems to be there. And .. I know
>he's never coming back."
>
>He nodded, "I understand. Why don't you use my apartment tonight. I'm gonna
>be up most of the night trying to get an accounting of what's going on."
>
>"I think that's my job."
>
>He nodded, "Yes, but you can't do it on your own. And you can't do it when
>you're to tired to stand. I've got Dorien to help. You go rest."
Just as he said the name the old man came in and called out to them both.
When he joined them he passed on some very awful information about the
morgue being invaded and remains missing. He said that they would go
investigate further and promised to call her if anything else came up.
Morning
Trak and half the Wing popped into the Temp Camp and sought out Koda on how
they could best be used to get the others back to the Warren. It took them
till midmorning before all the injured were back in the Warren. He still
didn't have a list from Koda or the Med staff. He would wait until tomorrow
before he got on them about it though. He knew that there would be funerals
to plan. He had the morning half of the Wing assemble on the green after
they were done and before the other half got there and told them that they
had done a great job and to remember that his door was always open to them
all and them told them to enjoy the afternoon and evening off and to report
bright and early the next day.
