[DL-M]: Cool Runnings.

After having left Waylene's office, Kendal didn't say all that
much to David as they parted ways. They agreed to meet on the green in an
hour after preping their dragons for flight.
Kendal wandered back to his apartment to gather a few things for
the patrol. His mind was elsewhere at the time. His life was sometimes
full of surprises. He had just expounded his life to Ailill and as hard
as that was, he wandered what she would say to him next.
The problems he has been in and the struggles he has gone through,
made him wonder. Is there a god. Is there more to life than the life we
lead. Or are we just fictional characters in someone's story. The
figment of someones imagination written to create an interesting and yet
somewhat bizarre twist. Maybe we all are he thought. Just a bunch of
characters in a story.
He put the thought out of his mind. It felt strange to think that
there was some crazy kid writing a story about him. Strange, too strange.
Kendal pulled on his writing jacket and strapped on his sword.
His room was still rather barren. No decorations, no paintings. His
clothes were still his bags on the floor. He has spent so little time in
this place that it doesn't even feel like home yet. He'll have to change
that after he gets back from the patrol.
<Ainu are you ready.>
<I'm almost done eating. Give me a minute and we can go.>
<Take your time old friend. I'll meet you down at the green.>
<No problem.>
Kendal walked out and headed toward the greens. The place seemed
a lot less lively since he arrived. So many have died and have been hurt.
This place could be a funeral home.
Stepping onto the Green, Kendal looked over to see Lakoda
preparing for flight. She seemed more heavily geared than usual. What
was she doing out here in the Greens. Shoudln't she be in the medical
center.
Ainu swooped down from the skies and gently landed nearby.
<She's going out on combat training.>
<Are you serious, but she's the doctor.>
<Trak reassigned her. The word is that they had an argument and
Waylene approved it.>
<She's going to get herself hurt out there if she doesn't know
what she is doing.>
<I'm sure Trak would watch out for her.>
<Hopefully. Where's David.>
<I'm not sure shouldn't he be here by now.>
<We'll wait for a bit, maybe I should give Lakoda a hand.>
<Might as well while we're waiting.>
"Hey Lakoda." Kendal yelled out. She seemed rather irritated and
grumpy. No one could blame her. Kendal walked over to her, hoping to
lend some assistance.
"Do you need any help."

--------------------------------
The World has no room for cowards.
We must all be ready to toil, to suffer, to die.
And yours is not less noble because no drum beats before you
when you go out into your daily battlefields.
And no crowds shout about your coming when you return
from your daily victory or defeat.
-Robert Louis Stevenson
