[DL-M] On the job again
by

It had been a hard time moving back into a strange, yet familiar living
style. Gaps in his memory being filled in day by day, and Minty being
very patient with him as he went around without a real assignment. The
warren had been accepting though.
A message from the warrenlady Waylene was a welcome relief. Perhaps he
was being assigned to a fighting wing. That was what he was, what he had
been trained for. He hadn't forgotten that.
Opening the message, it just gave simple instructions to meet with
Waylene in her office later on in the day. Placing the message on the
nightstand and cleaning up, he spread the news to his mate. "Araminta!
Waylene needs t'see me later on en te'day. Maybe I've been put into a
wing..."
** LATER **
Knocking at the warrenlady's door, David opened it up at the sound of a
'come in'.
As he opened the door, he bowed slightly,
> "Ye wanted to see me, m'lady."
>"Yes, David, thank you for coming. I'm waiting for one more person. He
will
>be your partner in this."
'Partner, what partner?' He thought.
>"In what, if I may ask."
This was very curious. Maybe a wing assignment wasn't what she had for
him.
*Whatever it is, it will be better than just sitting around all day. I
wan't to get out and back to some action!* Kaylin though, listening to
the conversation.
'Aye, so d'I m'friend. But since we have been gone fer so long, I'm just
curious on what she has fer us.' David replied to Kaylin.
>"S'an brought in a young woman, who was being attacked by bandits.
>Unfortunately they are getting bolder in their attacks."
>"Ye want us to investigate their activity?" David said, grinning. This
was better than running drills all day. A little cloak and dagger
routine would be great.
>"No, " she sighed, "There's a bigger problem."
David was about to ask exatly what was happening, but a knock came at the
door.
The young man who came in was built well, and he nodded to David. David
nodded back, now wondering where things were going.
>"You wanted to see me." He said.
>"Kendal, I'd like you to meet David. David was our wingsecond for a
while
>.. he's .. been away. David, this is Kendal a newcomer to Marrid. Since
>neither of you are assigned to the wing right now, this makes a perfect
>pairing."
David nodded. Whatever she said wwas law, but to be stuck with a
newcomer would mean a little trouble. He wondered how much training the
boy had.
*We're newcomers here as well.* Kaylin rebuked, and David smiled.
'Aye, that be true. And truth be told he probably be older than I am.'
Daivd relented.
Waylene told the story of what had happened, and where it was going.
>"Now relations with Larguad have never been what could be
>considered 'good'. But I thought we'd come to an understanding.
>Unfortunately this doesn't appear to be the case.
>"I want the two of you to focus your patrol around that area, and
>investigate anything out of the ordinary."
David made a salute, and held out his hand to his new partner. "Pleased
t'meet ye." He said, and the other replied likewise. The other didn't
seem to be very talkative, and David was fine with that. Work first,
pleasure later. They both agreed to meet on the green in about an hour
after making preperations.
Going back to the apartment, David noticed that Minty had gone out.
Writing a quick note for her and signing it at the bottom with 'Love,
David', he put on some regular clothes with a thin leather long-coat,
strapped on his short sword and knife, and walked out to Kaylin.
'Are ye ready fer some action?' David asked, and Kaylin streached his
massive body, joints popping as he did so.
*Of coarse. Anything is better than laying around.*
'Yup, ye are getting a little chubby there, fer a dragon.' David laughed,
and Kaylin tried to sweep him with his tail. David's reflexes kicked in
and he dodged the blow easily.
*I am not 'fat'! And even if I were, it is only from inactivity. You
have been spending a lot of time with Araminta. Kirimith and I have been
getting very lonesome...* the dragon thought, allowing David to strap on
the riding harness.
'Ah, ye big baby. We'll all be fine.' He said, and decided to see
someone before he met Kendal.
** still later **
David shook S'an's hand, thanking him for the information he could give.
"Hopefully we can find who these bandits are before they cause more havok
around here." David said, and the older rider nodded.
"I definitely don't want to go though this again. I think I've had
enough of lords and ladies for this lifetime." S'an mentioned with a
laugh. "Good luck. If I can help, just ask. But you get to do the
paperwork."
"Et's a deal." David said, and mounted Kaylin. 'Kaylin, we need t'get
t'te'green quickly. I think we're late.'
*We are late. Kendal is already there.* Kaylin said, and David cursed
under his breath.
Getting to the green, David quickly dismounted and walked over to where
Kendal and for some reason Lakoda was getting ready for wing practise.
"I thought ye were t'e'healer?" He asked, and got a death glare for an
answer.
"Ok?" David said, and turned to Kendal. "Sorry I be late. I was talking
with S'an, getting some information on exactly what happened with the
baronet. I suggest we try talking with Lord Reignald..."

NRPG: Oh boy, an adventure! ;) Sorry for being a little late Norman.
:(
Norman, the two will most likely go to Larguad and see if
Reignald will listen.
Perhaps a fight will ensue, the two riders being attacked.
More will come later...
