[DL-M]: Blindsided
by

Timeframe: Just after leaving Koda but not quite out of the building.

Kendal walked out of the room witha lot on his mind. Strangely, or
perhaps it was mainly his personality, but he felt that things were going
wrong. That the responsibility laid on his shoulders and the weight was
too great.

<Ainu, I'm leaving.>

<<I'll be on the green to pick you up my rider.>>

<No Ainu, you are mistaken. I meant that I'm leaving the warren. I've
decided that its best if I leave.>

<<What! Kendal I like it here. I don't want to leave.>>

<I can't stay here anymore Ainu. They were right to banish me. It seems
like its only a matter of time before I betray the ones that trust me. My
place is not for the civilized. I should be out there with the animals
and wild beasts.>

<<I trust you and you have never betrayed me.>>

<Ainu.>

<<Kendal, it has been two years of hell out there and finally we have a
new home and you want to leave.>>

<I'm leaving whether you come with me or not my friend, but I'm hoping
you'll join me.>

<<Of course I'll join you but this is not right. We have to stop running
Kendal. Stop running from those who love us.>>

<I'm not running.  I'm just distancing myself so I don't hurt anyone.>

<<Where would we go Kendal.>>

<How about the Ausipicioun falls. You love that little Oasis. Wouldn't
it be nice to visit there again.>

<<Oooh, I love the fresh fish that swim there this time of year.>>

<Good..ugghh..>

Having been caught off guard due to his mental discussion with Ainu, Z'lec
had the first punch. And a solid punch it was. In mad hurling frenzy,
Z'lec had thrown his full force and weight in his punch. The direct
contact with fist and face sent Kendal sprawling out onto the ground. He
felt as though his jaw was opn fire and his brain had smashed against his
skull.

Rising slowly, Kendal had only a fraction of fractions of a seocnd to see
who his assaliant was before being pummeled again, sending back to the
ground.

Instinct now kicked in. As Z'lec ran toward him, Kendal quickly rolled
out of the way, while sweeping Z'lec's legs from out from under him.
Sending him to the ground. Kendal quickly arose to find that Z'lec in his
flurry quickly arose also. He charged Kendal.

"You bastard, I'm going to kill you for taking my mate. How could you
betray me."

"Betray you! Take your mate! Z'lec I didn't do it."

Kendal didn't want to hurt Z'lec but in his frenzy had thrown a dozen
punches in only a few seconds. Kendal did his best to side step his
punches, or dodge out of the way. A few punches landed, but Kendal had
long learned how to roll with the punches to absorb most of the hit in a
non injury taking manner.

"Z'lec I don't want to hurt you."

"I'm going to kill you for what you've done."

"But I didn't do anything."

Finally Z'lec had landed a square punch that sent Kendal flat on his butt.
Z'lec in his full force, fell to the ground, having lost his balance after
throwing a punch with such force.

Quickly the two got to their feet. Kendala little slower that Z'lec,
still trying to shake off the pain of the hit. Kendal had finally had
enough of this, and decided to try and subdue him without seriously
injurying Z'lec or himself.

Z'lec again charged Kendal and threw a punch tat Kendal easily blocked.
But while blocking, Kendal grabbed a hold of Z'lec's hand and spun him
around twisting his arm behind his back. Shoving him forcefully against
the wall, Kendal had Z;lec pinned.

"Now I don't want to hurt you Z'lec, but like I said I didn't do any..."

"I know what you did to Ailill. You deserve to die."

"What."

"She told me everything you bastard."

With that it made sense. Kendal unconsciously loosened his grip in shock
from Z'lec's words. He was right. He deserved something much worse then
death. life in hell.

With his grip loosened. Z'lec broke free from his arm hold and spun
around, swinging harder than he did before. This time, Kendal simply
awaited for the punch to strike, hoping that it would end his misery like
a bolt of lightning.

--------------------------------
The World has no room for cowards.
We must all be ready to toil, to suffer, to die.
And yours is not less noble because no drum beats before you
when you go out into your daily battlefields.
And no crowds shout about your coming when you return
from your daily victory or defeat.
