[DL-M] T'rell Arrives At Marrid

(NRPG: This is part of a larger Daere post, of which I only included the part
where T'rell (Daere's Gamma Wingleader and longtime friend of Lakoda at
Falagand Warren) gets to Marrid Warren)

Morning, Day 9

Marrid, at the new warren
Mid-morning

[I'm heeeeerrrreeeee!] Flerrion announced as they teleported in over the
site where the new warren was being constructed.

*Nobody cares that you're here!* T'rell grumped. *Is Ribbon around?*

[She sure is,] Flerrion said happily. [Ooh, and so is Aura! Havelok,
too.]

T'rell chuckled. *Well, if you end up cuddling up next to Aura, better
take a plunge in the lake before we leave. If Troy smelled *her* on you,
you'd be wraith-bait when we get back!* Flerrion had won Aura when the
Marrid queen had unexpectedly risen to mate during her visit to Daere, and
the result had been the infamous mudfight that occurred later that day.
T'rell had no desire to take another trip down to that lake to wash off a
pair of muddy dragons tonight.

Flen landed in the middle of what T'rell supposed was the green, though
it didn't look particularly green yet. In fact, the whole place had a rather
grim, bleak look about it. He thought of Waylene, and how her troubles had
managed to find her even during her stay at Daere. He'd hoped that things
had gotten better for her, but apparently that hadn't happened. No sooner
had T'rell dismounted than Ribbon and Aura had hurried up to exchange news
with Flerrion. Very quickly, the three made their way off to one side of the
green to cuddle, leaving T'rell to wonder just what it was that all the
females saw in his dragon. Flerrion was extremely well meaning, but T'rell
thought that Graimor had had the right of it when he'd said that Flerrion was
a "natural disaster." Oh well, no accounting for tastes, he decided...and
just then a horrific thought occurred to him. Aura's last clutch was also
Flerrion's! He looked nervously around him, wondering if one of Flen's
offspring would suddenly appear to douse him with mud, paint, or sand...

     "T'rell!!!"

The wingleader whirled around, and suddenly found Lakoda in his arms.
"You came!" she cried happily.

"Of course I came!" he laughed, sweeping the tiny healer into a bearhug
and swinging her around in a full circle before putting her down. "Didn't I
always say I'd be around when one of my trainees needed me?"

"Well, I'm glad to see that you weren't just kidding!" she said,
beaming. "And you did more than that in sending Martyn here!"

T'rell chuckled as she led him off in the direction of the dining hall.
Koda knew that the first thing on T'rell's agenda would be a cup of coffee.
"So, is he managing to make himself useful here?" he asked.

"That and more," said Koda, and T'rell caught something in her voice
that suggested something more than any help Martyn might have given them in
finding some of their lost dragons and riders. He'd have to nose around a
bit and find out more. He still felt very protective towards Koda.

"How's Waylene?" he asked as they entered the dining hall.

Koda shrugged. "As well as can be expected, given all that's happened,"
she told him. "Perhaps we could go and see her later. I'm sure she'd be
pleased to see you."

T'rell nodded. "Anyway, I have a message from Jayleigh to give her.
She's pledged any support that Daere can give."

"I know she'll be glad to hear that," Koda said.

"And now," said T'rell, as they sat down. "I want to hear all about how
*you* have been!"
