NRPG: A bit of a back post, but I've been burnt out recently
RGP:
Kaelanori contemplated whether or not to go to someone with what she
seen, or thought she'd seen. It really didn't concern her. Still, she
found herself heading towards the warrenlady's office. Well, she
rationalized, if I'm going to be living here, I don't want it burned
down around my ears.
>"Come in" she called, then waited as the door was opened and a
>vaguely familiar girl entered. She racked her brain for the name to
>put to the face. "It's Kaelanori isn't it?" she asked after a >second
or two. The girl nodded and then seemed to hesitate for a >moment.
"How can I help you? Can it wait for a minute or two?" >Naomi enquired
politely, anxious to return to the conversation with >M'lent.
>"I think that maybe I can help you." Kaelanori told her quietly.
>"The rumour is that the fire on the green was set deliberately?"
>M'lent and Naomi both nodded and motioned for her to continue.
>"Well I think I know who did it." Kaelanori said. "At least I can
>describe the man I saw in that area just before the fire started. He
>wasn't someone I remembered seeing around before, but then I've only
>been here a few weeks. It might mean nothing at all and I could be
>mistaken about him but he seemed a little bit nervous when he saw I
>was watching him....."
>"Describe him for us." M'lent said decisively
She nodded and paused recreating a picture of the man in her mind.
"He wasn't too tall, around six feet. Some would say he was handsome.
Long dark hair, which he wore back. Black pants, a simple shirt, nothing
about him really stood out, accept for his behavior. Back home, he
would have been the kind of person you looked for, the kind you turned
away because they had trouble in mind."
M'lent nodded, she could see his mind working.
"Sorry I couldn't be more help." She said quietly.
"Maybe you still can help. Keep your eyes open. If you see this man
around here again, tell someone. Point him out to a rider." He told
her.
Kaelanori nodded. "I'll leave you to finish your conversation." With
that she slipped out.
~*~*~*~Mini Time Jump to the Hatching~*~*~*~
A triumphant bugle filled the bowl of the warren and the effect on it's
inhabitants was instantaneous. Kael joined the crowd as they filed into
the hatching cavern. She was half tempted to follow the others into the
seats, but made her way out onto the sand instead. Butterflies the size
of ravens beat against the walls of her stomach. She wasn't sure which
thing she was more afraid of, becoming a junior queenrider, or being
left on the sands.
The egg rocked violently and the girls edged closer. Kaelanori hung
back, uncertain. The shell split, out the little dragon spilled out
onto the sand. The light glistened of her damp hide. The deep purple
nearly matched her mothers, but it held subtle blue undertones that
promise to make it easy to tell the two apart.
Kael felt a soft tickle in her mind, and her butterflies were replaced
by an intense hunger, that wasn't entirely her own. As the hatchling
struggled closer Kaelanori felt the tickle grow into a gentle presence.
Love and need swept her fear away.
<<Kae`ri...>> A soft childish voice sounded in her mind. <<I'm
hungry!>> Demand and hunger emphasised the words, but even in her
demands a soft warmth lingered on the edges of her thoughts.
>"Oh you darling." a soft voice sounded from just behind her. "Of
>course, I'll feed you...."
>A smile of love and tenderness suffused the woman's face as she >knelt
in the sands and flung her arms around the queen's neck.
She want time to freeze, but her new companion had something else in
mind. The dragon twisted free from Kael's embrace and thrust her head
towards a bucket of food. Laughing Kaelanori help the little one get at
the food.
"What's her name?" A voice behind her questioned. She turned around to
see a male rider holding another bucket.
"Iolite" Kaelanori wasn't sure how she knew that, but she didn't worry
about it. She was too busy eyeing the man.
Iolite, however, wasn't in the mood for flirting. She pushed her head
against Kaelanori's shoulder. <<More, Kae'ri, more!>>
"Why do you keep calling me that?" She questioned the hatchling as the
man placed the food with her reach.
"Calling you what?" He tried to keep the amusement off his face.
"She keep's calling me Kae'ri."
"They do that sometimes. When they find your real name to long for
their liking."
"Really." She purred, as she edged closer to the rider. It seems I've
got a lot to learn, I'd be grateful if you'd help me.
The man just smiled. "I have a feeling your going to get plenty of help
Kae'ri." He rose to leave.
She caught his sleeve. "Wait a minute. Didn't your mother teach you
manners. You can't run off without telling me your name."
"S'ron."
"Well S'ron, as payment for being so rude, I want you to make me a
promise." She tried to rise, but found that Iolite had fallen asleep
with her head in Kea'ri's lap, preventing her from following him.
"Anything." She could see from the amusement on his face that he wasn't
taking her seriously.
"I want you to teach me how to be a dragonrider." That should shock
him, she thought.
He frowned. "We have a trainer..."
She cut him off. "Promise, or else."

NRPG: Please forgive if I have any @ signs where I should have a " .
These British keyboards put stuff in the wrong places. ;)
Please forgive the tardiness of this post. I've been struggling with a
hideous case of writers block.
So, how does S'ron like the idea of being Kae'ri's trainer, and will
Naomi go for it. Kae'ri will be very unco-operative if anyone else is
suggested ;)
Here's a _very_ short bio for Iolite
Dragon: Iolite
Gender: Queen
Color: Metallic Blue-violet
Personality: Curious, and inquisitive. She has a hatred for rogue
dragons/riders that is even more intense then the usual warren dragon.
