Trak was doing his best to stay away from wing business while his stab
wound healed up. This was turning out to be very hard for him, it was the
only thing that kept him busy. Granted the kids were a handful, but that
wasn't work and he felt much work had to be done, even if it was just busy
work. He did his best to keep up with the going ons of the warren, he even
attended a few meetings, namely one with healers and them threatening to
leave the warren. He knew the warren would be losing a great deal if the
healers left, but there were others who would willingly replace them.
Honestly, Trak didn't want to lose the prize healers of the warren but if
they decided to leave then so be it.

Later

Trak had spent some time roughhousing with the kids before he had headed to
his office. He hadn't felt very well since that play session that they had
had. I was a little harder for him to breath and he would feel dizzy if he
stood up or even move to quickly. It was that quick movement that brought
him to the ground later that day.

>Waylene pushed passed him to see Trak sitting on the floor rubbing his
head, "Trak? Are you okay?" >She knelt down beside him.
>
>"I'm fine .." he said, but she could hear the tired weakness in his voice.
>
>"I'm calling Koda .." she began.
>
>"NO!" He said, surprisingly strong, considering what he looked like. "I've
already told Mayhem not to let >her know. I'm fine .. really I just tripped."
>
>"You passed out!" Dorien insisted.
>
>"You panicked, old man," Trak said gently. "I'm okay .."
>
>"Trak, you look like hell. You've got to take a break." Waylene told him.
>
>"I'll be fine .. honest."
>
>"Traknor, you listen to me .." she began but stopped when he reached out
to take her hand.
>
>"I'll go upstairs and rest. I just haven't been sleeping well .." he could
see she wasn't fully buying it. >"Look, I'll take the day off .."
>
>"How about the next week."
>
>"Today and Tomorrow?" he bargained, "There's so much to do, and David busy
helping Minty and you >know how D'nar hates being in charge."
>
>"He won't mind when it has to do with your health!" Waylene insisted.
>
>"Please, love. I promise, I'll be fine .. just today and tomorrow and I'll
be good as new."
>
>"I don't know, Trak."
>
>"If I'm not .. then we can go to Koda. But just give me a couple of days
to recuperate and you'll see we >would have bothered her for nothing."
>
>Waylene sighed, "All right. Today and Tomorrow you stay in bed. Then we'll
see .."

This was a very humiliating event for Trak... something like this had never
happened to him before. He felt bad for give his love such a hard time, but
he knew she needed him to be strong for her and he wasn't going to let this
bother her. If it got worse he would keep his word and get help.

Trak was grateful that 'Lene took the kids out that afternoon so he could
rest in peace. He found it more difficult to breath when he was lying down
though and did everything he could do to hide that fact from his lover.
Trak spoke with the kids briefly a short time after they had returned, he
kissed them all goodnight and after they had headed to their rooms he
pulled his baby close and held on tight to her. He whispered an apology to
her for the way he acted earlier and gave her a gentle squeeze to emphasize
how he felt and gave her a soft kiss before trying to get some sleep.

He tried to stay in bed that first day but he was never able to
comfortable. He didn't play with the kids that morning either, which he
felt bad about because he knew that they enjoyed it. But he kept his word
until Mayhem notified him about pockets that were opening up or something
to that effect. He got dressed and even though he knew Waylene would be mad
at him headed out to meet up with her and talk about this. He found her in
the hatching cave.

>"'Lene," she heard Trak's voice coming up behind her. Aura gave him a
threatening rumble as he drew >closer and he stopped.
>
>Waylene stood and moved over to him, "Sorry, she's more then a little bit
edgy. What are you doing out >of bed anyway? You promised me .."
>
>"I've heard everything for Mayhem," he told her, "You can't expect me to
just sit back and do nothing."
>
>"Of course I do," she told him, "After all you promised.
>
>"I'm feeling fine, besides the warren needs me. You need me."
>
>"Trak, you aren't well, and if you don't keep your promise I'm going to
call C'tain over here to ground >you!"
>
>Trak groaned, "You can't do this on your own."
>
>"She won't be alone .." they heard Carie's voice and looked up at her.
"I'm here. I'll help."
>
>Trak looked at her doubtfully, but Waylene nodded quickly, "See Trak we'll
be fine. Besides there's not >much we can do, until we're sure what we're
dealing with. D'nar's already warned the patrols to watch for >anything out
of sorts."

Trak mumbled and grumbled his way out of the cave headed back to their
apartment, ignoring everyone on the way. He did search her out for dinner
and found her by herself at a table.

>"How you hanging in there?" she heard Trak say as he came up and sat
beside her.
>
>"Okay .." Waylene said as her eyes fell across his plate and her stomach
churned.
>
>He noticed her face looking very pale, "Waylene?"
>
>She turned her head and covered her nose and mouth.
>
>"Are you okay?" he asked.
>
>She nodded, "Yes, I think so .." she managed to get out, "Could you just
move your plate away .."
>
>"My plate .."
>
>She nodded, "I'm sorry, It's upsetting my stomach."
>
>Nodding he quickly pushed it away from them, "Are you sick?"
>
>She looked up at him, "I don't think so .. I think I'm pregnant." She had
begun to suspect about a week >ago, but she'd only recently begun to be
nauseated by certain smells.
>
>His eyes widened, "Pregnant?"
>
>She nodded, "Yeah, between being exhausted and sick to my stomach .. and
the fact that I'm late .."
>
>"Late? How late?"
>
>She shrugged, "Three weeks .."
>
>"Three weeks! Why didn't you say something?"
>
>Again she shrugged, "Well, we've had other things on our minds .. and well
I haven't had the most >reliable cycle lately."
>
>"Gods Waylene .. this is .. this is incredible." A large grin crossed his
face, "We're going to have a baby >.."
>
>"Maybe .. I'm not 100% sure .. just like .. umm.. maybe 95%." Waylene
chewed on her lip a moment, >"Well .. maybe 90% .. or even less .."
>
>"So how do we get 100% sure."
>
>"Trak .." she began, an edge of warning to her voice.
>
>"What? Don't you want to have a baby?"
>
>"It's just that .. well you know I don't have good luck .."
>
>"Yes, but I also know that was Amblee's fault and she's a long way from
Marrid these days."
>
>"I'm just afraid to hope to much .." she said shaking her head, "And if I
don't really know for sure .. and >something goes wrong .."
>
>"Nothing's gonna go wrong this time. I won't let it." Trak said taking her
hand in his.
>
>Waylene allowed herself a small smile, "How could it with you there .."
>
>"That's the spirit!" he grinned and folded his arms around her. Waylene
relaxed in his embrace, but still >she could not keep the worry from her
mind completely.

He was happy to see that he was able to make her at least a little happy.
They walked quietly back to their apartment a little later. They really
didn't speak much on the way back, they were both very tired and worn out.
When they got back, the kids were already asleep, so he told her that he
would check on them and be right there. They were fine and he headed back
to his room and told her so. He grinned at her and gave her a quick kiss
and pulled her close so he could kiss her neck. He then stepped back so he
could admire how sexy she was and he told her so as he began to slowly
undress her.....

He was then awoken hours later by the roar of a dragon, he knew what it was
and was happy but he was also tired and having an even harder time
breathing this morning, so he just covered his head with another pillow and
waited for her and the kids to leave so he could deal with his growing problem.

The next day was pretty much a blur for poor Trak... he did as he
promised and stayed in bed. He was informed of Koda's baby being born and
was grateful for her. He knew that whatever was going on inside him was
getting worse. He tried to think back over the past few days to figure out
when it started getting worse. He thought that it might been when he was
roughing around with the kids and mayhaps tore something inside near or at
the stab wound that wasn't healing very well. He guessed that he was mostly
likely bleeding on the inside and would have to get help soon or not wake
up anymore and he needed to wake up for a long time to come.

He was able to drag himself to the Med Center and crawl onto a bed in an
exam room. After being examined it was determined that he would have to be
operated on. Fine. But he informed them that only Koda would be allowed to
perform it. When he was told that she wasn't able to because of the baby he
demanded that the wing medic perform it then under her supervision. He made
sure Waylene knew of his wishes and made her promise that it would be done
as he asked. He apologized to her for making her do this but he felt that
it was something important that had to be done, no matter the outcome. He
was even able to wish Ailill good luck and thank Koda before being put under.
