[DL-M] Chaotic Evacuation

D'nar
***
D'nar, Talitha and Tina had gathered on the green with their things all
packed for a trip to Xylian Warren .. and to wait for the vote. Once the
vote was taken then three of them were going to head to Xylian.
D'nar had mixed feelings. He hated to see this vote even take place,
however, from all the data they had so far, it was very likely that Marrid
would be hit by fluctuating magic. They couldn't chance that it would happen
and wipe out the warren. Moving to a safer local was the best option. He had
no doubt the dragonriders who had been effected already by fluctuating magic
would agree .. however the landbound were another story .. and ALL would be
included in this vote. From the longest-lived dragonrider to the lowliest
kitchen dredge.
There were many somber faces watching as the junior queenrider .. no, he
corrected himself .. the acting warrenlady laid the fact out for them.
Even as her words turned his blood cold so did the air around him .. and
panic hit as he felt himself clinging to Porthios with all his might.
<Porthios!>
<D'nar ..> the dragons voice felt weak and it became clear what was
happening.
<Porthios .. fly! Fly!> He called panicked, as he scrambled up onto the
monsters back. They had to get out of there.
All around him panic amongst the dragon riders ensued. Dragons collapsed ..
dragons took to the air .. dragons howled in pain and fright and sadness.
<.. evacuation .. evacuation ..> D'nar barely heard his dragon's cry as the
evacuation call was sent out. The acting Wingleader focused his mind on his
dragon and pictured the first thing that came into his head. Porthios
grabbed onto that scrap and kreeling in agony the two teleported out of the
chaos of Marrid Warren.
T'rend
***
T'rend had been standing with Baeta as they listened to Carie. Her fingers
clenched in his hand and he turned to look at her, wondering what it was
that had upset her. Her eyes were narrowed unhappily as she stared a short
distance off the side of the platform where Carie stood. His eyes followed
hers and he nearly swooned as his eyes fell on the thin figure of A'Rillia.
"I can't believe it," he whispered.
He turned to see Baeta's eyes on him. She didn't say anything, but he knew
exactly what her eyes were asking. She was questioning the commitment he'd
made to her only the night before .. and to their quest for a family.
T'rend was torn. He didn't know what to think. He'd certainly never expected
to see A'Rillia again. And he didn't know how to feel about seeing her again
after all this time.
Unfortunately, he did not have time to answer his own questions or hers as
the chaos of the fluctuating magic began around them.
"Jindelie!" Baeta was screaming, as she reached out and clung to him to
steady herself.
T'rend also called out to his dragon who was panicking along with the other
dragon. <It hurts! T'rend! It hurts!>
T'rend held firmly onto Baeta as his eyes moved to the spot where A'Rillia
had been standing. She was gone .. Knowing he had no time to worry about
her, he searched frantically for the peach bulk that was Baeta's dragon. He
dodge with Baeta as another panicked dragon swooped down and grabbed the
rider beside them, dragging him off into the skies.
"There! There!" Baeta pointed, and T'rend turned them toward a blue of peach
and sky-blue. Jindalie and Grall!
<.. evacuating ..> Grall tried to tell him.
<Where! Where!> T'rend asked.
<.. here ..> The dragon sent the picture to him, it seemed fuzzy and unkempt
and T'rend wondered if it was the place .. or the clouded mind of his dragon
as he fought against the fading magic .. or both ..
<Grall! Make sure Jindalie has the image. Make sure she knows where to go!>
< .. try ..>
The got to the dragons side and T'rend pushed Baeta on to her dragon,
scrambling up behind her. He grabbed her face, as he thrust the reins into
her hand, "You hang on! Do you hear me! And concentrate."
She nodded at him, tears streaming from her dark brown eyes. He kissed her
quickly on the lips and jumped back off the dragon. "Don't fall!" he
screamed at her as he watched the peach dragon take to the air.
Then he turned to his dragon, and ran up onto his back grabbing his own
reins, <Go Grall, Go!>
<.. it hurts ..>
<I know .. but you've got to try!>
The dragon pushed himself up and stumbled, <GRALL!> T'rend screamed sending
as much of his strength to his partner as he could through the weakened
link.
Somehow the dragon managed to push himself off the ground and take to the
air. As soon as T'rend was sure they were airborne he sent the image to his
dragon and the two concentrated .. and disappeared.
Z'lec
***
Marrid's former wingleader had been sitting under a tree a good distance
away from the gathering around Carie. He didn't care one way or the other if
they evacuated Marrid. He was staying here! This was his home and nothing ..
not even fading magic was going to drive him from it. Besides .. it was the
only place that kept him close to Raynod.
>From this spot under the tree he could look up at the watch post and
remember how many nights he'd spent up there with the glistening white
dragon, just thinking about things ..
Dragon keening and roars drew his attention to Carie's meeting. Sheer chaos
had broken out and he couldn't figure out why. From what he could see riders
were running to dragon, who were swooping to get riders .. or who were
collapsing onto the ground .. it was complete madness!
The landbound, of which he was one of now, he reminded himself, were all
standing around looking in amazement. Occasionally ducking out of the way of
dragon who seemed to be completely out of control.
At first he thought it was a wraith attack. But there were no wraiths, and
it certainly wasn't the orderly organization of a wing about to go into
battle. At least not the wing he had run not all that long ago!
He stood as a dragon dropped from the sky and shook the ground around him as
he hit. His rider was crushed beneath him. Z'lec looked at the horrible
sight and quickly recognized the signs. "Waste sickness .."
He'd heard rumors of the magic fluctuations, but hadn't paid much attention
to it. He'd had far to much on his mind .. namely Ailill. He hadn't seen her
for several days. Not since they'd made love. He'd looked for her .. and
asked for her .. but now was under the impression she was avoiding him. He
couldn't blame her. After all what dragonrider would want some crazy man
who'd lost his dragon. Certainly Waylene had not!
He watched as dragon took off and vanished, or fell to ground in a dead
heap. It was horrible. He moved around the fallen dragon and looked at the
landbound milling around. It looked as all the dragonriders who could .. had
left. For the first time Marrid Warren was void of living, breathing dragons
..
"They've evacuated .. they've left us .." A woman sobbed.
"They had no choice!" Z'lec spat. He motioned to several dragon laying dead
around them. "Their dragons were dying .."
"What are we going to do!" Another woman asked.
Just then a scream sounded and a little girl came running out from behind a
bush, "MOMMY! MOMMY!"
Z'lec's eyes narrowed as the bush suddenly seemed to come alive. It snapped
after the little girl.
"What the hell .." he heard someone ask.
"Gather everyone we can find in the dining hall, " He screamed. When no one
moved he screamed again, "NOW!"

D'nar was roused as he heard mumbling around him, "Who is he?"
He lifted his head, and looked around. He didn't remember this place! "Where
.." he started to whisper, then was nudge by a large brown head. He breathed
in relief as he felt Porthios' presence, once again strong and unbroken.
"Porthios." He hugged the dragon's snout.
"Are you okay," someone asked, the turned to another person. "Quick go get
Nineve!"
D'nar turned to look at the man, "Where am I?"
"Just outside of Xylian Warren .."
T'rend
***
T'rend was grateful to see the picture he'd had in his head turn into a real
place. It did look something like a warren .. but it certainly did not look
finished. Where the heck were they!
He saw Touth and Yenal flying toward them.
<Yenal wants to know if we need any medical attention.>
<No .. I fine, I think. How are you.>
<Tired .. but I think I'm okay.>
<Jindalie?> He thought suddenly panicked.
<I don't feel her yet. But I don't feel many dragons .. Yenal says only a
few have made it here so far. But one of them is Fiera.> T'rend could feel
the dragon's relief at the safety of the queen.
<Where is she?> T'rend looked around in concern. <You gave her the picture
didn't you?>
<I did ..> the dragon assured him. <Yenal says we are to gather at the
green.>
<The green? Where is the green?>
His dragon pointed out the place which looked unlike any green he'd ever
seen before. For one thing it WAS green. And not only was it green it was
overgrown. Obviously not a well used green like they'd had at Marrid.

NRPG: Okay I've got a character at each of the major place where people
might end up. You'll notice I mentioned no one else turning up anywhere
except Carie and I know she'll end up in the right place :)
As for everyone else. It is up to you to get your dragons where they are
going. I decided to have D'nar land at Xylian, cause that was the original
plan and I thought it might be fun for the Xylian people :) Jill and James,
Talitha and Tina were going to come with him, but of course in the Chaos
anything could happen :) Feel free to have your PC's end up at which ever
place you prefer. I will be sending something to Xylian as soon as I get it
set up to go out.
As for everyone else. Make it as easy or difficult to get to where you're
going. Have fun with it. I will not write anyone else characters to the
unfinished warren (Are we going to name it, Chris <G> Can be anything that
doesn't start with an A, C, D, E, F, G, I, J, K, M, N, S, T, W, or X ... I
think those are all letters that are used for other established PC or NPC
Warrens :)
So the rest of you, if you don't write, you are effectively writing your
PC's out of this Warren (whatever it is called .. course you know we could
probably call it something with an M to save confusion .. or would that
cause more ...) Mike this obviously doesn't go for Trak, cause we know where
he is. For the others that don't write, your PC's will just go missing,
presumed dead. This is also your chance to kill of extra NPC's .. landbound
or joined ..
Also Z'lec will be leading the Unjoined to safety so if you have anyone
there to play feel free otherwise I'll take care of those I can :)
Any questions? Or have I effectively confused everyone :)
One last thing .. those of you with other Warrenlady characters at other
warrens (Particularly Barb for Jayleigh) feel free to have Carie send a plea
for help or whatever :)
