(DL-N) Making our way home

[DL] Meena

Meena and the others headed out toward the gate. The sky grew darker as the
sun began to set. They walked unnoticed through the streets. As they neared
the gate Meena saw that the guards were still in place checking the few
stranglers that were passing through the gates of the city.

"It's not going to work," whispered Greta holding onto the two small forms
beside her tightly.

"We just have to be patient. T'grat will not let us down." Meena whispered back.

Sure enough, the awaited disturbance occurred. A child pelted towards the
guards, screaming and sobbing, tears running down his face;

>"Wraiths... Wraiths... they's coming in the gate there... oh they got me
>mam and da...Wraiths mister... there's Wraiths coming..." the child wrapped
>his arms around the nearest guards legs and clung on for dear life "Don't
>let 'em get me.... they'll eat me and then I'll be dead. Please mister... "
>
>The guards tried to stop the child's shouting to no avail, and the crowd began
>to take up the call. "Wraiths... we're being attacked.... " was heard round
>every corner of the square as the crowd became hysterical. T'grat slipped
>quietly away to fetch Meena and company... well pleased with the child's
>performance.....

Meena smiled at Greta, "I think that's our cue." Meena grabbed up the
little girl and Greta took up her son. They began running hysterically
following suit with the rest of the crowd. Hered also chased after them
calling names out as if looking for someone.

Soon they were through the gate without even a glance from the guards
attempting to calm the emotional crowd. <Vonn?> called Meena.

<Meena!!> came the joyful reply.

<We are almost to the bridge to meet T'grat, my love.>

<We are ready, Meena.>

"There's the bridge," she called to the others. It could barely be seen in
the every dimming light of the sun as it sank below the horizon. As they
drew closer, Vonn hopped out to meet them her albino skin nearly glowing in
the dark. The green and black Malachite was almost impossibly to see.

T'grat moved to greet them and help strap everyone on the dragons. Greta
looked nervously at the Dragon's. "I'm glad thier tame," she murmured.

T'grat chuckled, "Don't mistake a joined dragon with being tame, m'lady."
Malachite snorted gruffly as well. He helped her up on to the large dragon
along with her son, then climbed up behind her.

Hered climbed up on Vonn, while Meena strapped the little girl into Demee's
seat. While she was older then Demee, she wasn't much bigger. Soon the two
dragon's were aflight. "Be ready," Meena yelled into Hered ear, "We're
about to teleport!"

Hered felt a moment of fear as he waited to do the very thing that had
killed his son. Even though he knew that Meena did this all the time, the
fear nagged at him. Thankfully it was instantaneous. He barely knew that it
had even happened, were it not for the fact that they now were over the
Warren rather then Whitbarrow. Breathing a sigh of relief and a quick prayer
to whatever god had protected him, he prepared for his new life in the Warren.

<Meena, Malachite says we are to take Greta and her children to T'grat's
apartments. They will be safe there.> Vonn told her.

Meena smiled, wondering if T'grat knew what he was getting into inviting two
children to his apartment. He probably only had him mind on their beautiful
mother when he made that decision. She thought that this might be a good
learning experience for him, so she followed Vonn's directions and deposited
the little girl in her mothers arms on T'grat's ledge.

Then she and Hered flew down to find Demee. As she hopped off Vonn, she
hurried toward Rybeth's, thinking how much she missed that little boy. Hered
hurried to keep up with her.

Demee was almost asleep in Rybeth's arms when Meena entered. He looked up
and blinked a few times before snapping wide awake, "Mama." He laughed.
Jumping out of Rybeth's arms he sped to his mother's waiting arms.

"I've missed you, my darling boy." said Meena, picking him up and holding
him tightly. Hered made it in the door at that point and Demee laughed
again, though he didn't let go of his mother. "Shall we go home, Demee"

"Va go?" he asked hopefully.

"Yes, my dear, Vonn will be going too." she laughed.

<Vonn tell Naomi that I will see her in the morning, I want to spend some
time at home tonight>

<She says that's fine, Meena.> assured her dragon.
