[DL] Meena

Meena and Demee landed on T'grat's ledge for the second time that afternoon.
Meena hoped that no one was paying much attention to that, or they might
begin to wonder.

<Wonder what?> asked Vonn.

<Wonder whose up here.> Meena said.

<Perhaps they would think you are just here to see T'grat.>

<Not while he's a wingpractice. As it is I'm sure there's enough talk going
around about what happened with Harkon the other day and why we haven't been
at practice for a couple days.>

<Perhaps they will think you have a rendezvous with the Wingleader.> Vonn
said wickedly teasing her rider.

Meena looked at Vonn ruefully, <You can get that out of your head right now,
missy.>

<But Meena, he's very handsome.>

<Vonn, we've had this discussion before..> she slid off her dragon's back,
then helped Demee down.  Great came back out and Meena handed her a small
bundle of clothes

"Thank you, Meena. I mean it." said Greta.

"It's alright. There are some things I need to discuss with you."

Greta nodded sat down on the couch,  "Do you have a plan to get Lars the
recognition he deserves."

Meena nodded, "I think so. Naomi, the WarrenLady, has suggested that perhaps
were you to marry someone with some power, that Harkon wouldn't be able to
refuse Lars."

Greta scoffed, "Sure, as if it would work."

"You don't think it would?" asked Meena.

"No. We already tried that. Harkon laughed in our face."

"What do you mean?" Meena was confused now.

"Stont and I got married. Harkon had it annulled, saying it never happened.
He even scared the priest so bad, he left town. I hear he left Norwall's
domain entirely."

"You and Stont were married." Meena chuckled. She couldn't believe her good
luck.

"Meena, did you hear what I said. We can't prove it. Harkon made sure of that."

Meena was still smiling happily, "It doesn't really matter, Greta. Don't you
see, that's why Harkon wanted you out of Whitbarrow. He didn't want us to
find you."

"I don't understand what your saying." Greta looked confused.

"Warren relationships are much less 'legalized' then the landbound. We don't
marry. We become mates, a bonding of the heart and soul rather then paper.
Nonetheless, it *is* as strong and as important to us as marriage would be
to you. Harkon will be here in the Warren tomorrow. He thinks to pick up
Demee. But it will instead be to acknowledge Lars as his heir."

"I still don't completely understand. How can you make him accept it." A
small glimmer of hope shown through her doubt.

"He won't be able to dispute it once Norwall's WarrenLady acknowledges it.
That is ten times more proof then a mere slip of paper."

"But Harkon doesn't have to follow her word."

"No, you're right there. But he will. Especially since you will be brought
to Whitbarrow in full ceremony on Dragonback. You see, once a public display
is made, he can't back out of it without losing his position in Whitbarrow.
Were he to throw it back in the faces of the Warren, it would be enough to
break the contract between Riders and Landbound. We would no longer be under
obligation to 'protect' the town."

Greta laughed, "And that wouldn't make the other noble of Whitbarrow happy
at all."

Meena laughed with her, "No it wouldn't."

NRPG: So do you think it will work?? Does it make sense :):) My thought is
there will be a confrontation with Harkon at the Warren, then the next day
we can have a few dragons fly Greta and her children to Whitbarrow for a
formal ceremony of sorts.  A nice big display for the Landbound :):)

I'm going to assume this takes place before the mating flight. Les, if
T'grat comes back a little flustered from not winning, I suppose he and
Greta could 'go to a lake' while Meena watches the kids :):) hehe:) Greta
ought to be in an excellent mood :):)
