(DL-N) We're up

[DL] Meena

Meena woke up to the trumpeting of the Queen. <Meena, they are beginning to
hatch.> called Vonn.

At first she worried that she had overslept, but soon realized it was still
dark out. She lit a candle and walked to the small room that contained her son.

Demee was sleeping soundly through the loud trumpeting of the excited
dragon. She smiled at the little boy who still loved to sleep. She certainly
hoped this lasted for a while. She hated to wake him, but she certainly
could leave him up here alone.

She stepped through the gate and picked the boy up. He whimpered slightly
then settled in with his head on her shoulder. She then headed to where Vonn
sat on the ledge, opening and closing the several gates that were set up for
Demee's protection.

Vonn waited patiently as Meena strapped the boy into his harness on Vonn's
back. Demee protested, but Meena soothed him, "Shh, Sweetie, we are going to
see baby dragons. Don't you want to see the baby's."

Demee nodded sleepily, "Beebee's" Vonn crooned softly as well. She was used
to the boy and knew that he loved to hear her croon. Demee was beginning to
wake up a little more as he rubbed his eyes with a yawn. "Va go?"

"Yes, Sweetie, Vonn will go soon." Meena finished strapping the boy in and
quickly hopped up herself. Vonn gently glided down to the hatching grounds,
which was already beginning to get crowded. Meena was surprised so many were
still attending though it was pitch black outside.

As she moved into the stands she avoided the spot she had sat during Vonn's
hatching. Moving instead all the way to the other side of the hatching
grounds. Though why she bothered she didn't know. She was not likely to
forget when she had Devon's face staring at her every morning as she woke
Demee up.

She heard the first cry, "Her name is Violet!"

Demee began to laugh, "Maa... dahgon! Beebee dahgon!" He clapped happily as
she sat down and more eggs began to hatch.

Demee settled happily on her lap as he laughed and shouted for joy as each
new dragonet emerged from their shells. His laughter and joy was infectious
and soon those around them seemed almost as pleased as Demee himself. Meena
found herself laughing as well.

Demee was her greatest joy, and were it not for him and Vonn, she doubted
she could have survived Devon's accident.

NRPG: Okay, I'm up :) It's a good thing most dragonets don't follow the
course of most human babies and choose to hatch at night :)
