Lacey saw her sister enter the hatching grounds & she came over to her.

> "Isn't it wonderful?!"  Lacey's beaming smile was proud

(You did good my sweetheart, 12 eggs in your first clutch & they all will 
be beautiful) Lacey said to Garnet

(But they all have to leave)

(You know that is the way Garnet, my love....just as it was with us, all 
of them will find their soulmate)

Her thoughts went to Garnets & her joining as another boy found his dragon.
She had never thought she would be a dragonrider...& to be the rider of a 
Queen, such a beautiful Queen.

Garnet preened as she heard Lacey's thoughts. Lacey laughed.

> "Watching the joy on their faces makes all the worrying and fretting worth
> while.  Look the last one's hatching... Go to her Lacey and tell her how
> wonderful she is.  She'll find it hard tonight to let go of her babies and

> "Thanks Naomi."  Lacey kissed her quickly  "It was worth getting up for then?"

Lacey approached Garnet & threw her arms around her neck.  

(My sweetheart, you are so wonderful...the babys are all so very 
beautiful, although none as beautiful as you of course)

Lacey looked around, the dragons were so little upon hatching & so many 
different colours. Lacey heard an echo in her mind. It sounded like 
little Violet's voice, but Naomi was the one who could hear all the 
dragons, not her. She shrugged it off.

(No, Lacey, you heard my daughters voice, you are getting a little stronger)

Lacey looked slightly alarmed. She didn't really want to hear all the 
dragons as Naomi did, it tired her sister so much at times.

Most of the hatchlings & their riders had left the hatching grounds by now.

(Lacey, I am going to go sit with my mother. She has been thru this too & 
can explain all these feelings to me & how to deal with them)

(Ok, sweetheart, call if you need me...I am going to go celebrate the 
birth of your children!)

Garnet trumpted one last final proud note.

(Show off!) Lacey laughed.

Lacey headed off to the dining hall where everyone seemed so happy. She 
saw S'ephan head her way & just as quickly S'ran stepped in his way & 
shook his head. Lacey shook her head. S'ran was so over-protective, after 
all S'ephan was such a nice man, & so handsome also.

She went over & grabbed a cup of cider from the table & found a corner to 
hide in & watch the room. She liked parties but never felt like she quite 
fit in. A couple of people passed by & commented on how beautiful all the 
hatchlings were. She nodded & passed these comments onto Garnet who was 
still playing very proud momma.

Lacey yawned.

"Sleepy, little sis?" S'Ran asked.

Lacey nodded. "Yes, Garnet could have chosen a better time for a 
hatching, although it was beautiful under the stars"

"Yes it was" S'Ran said "So, call Garnet & go to bed"

"I hate to interrupt her. She is with Amethyst" Lacey said.

"You need your sleep, she can always go back to Amethyst after she takes 
you home" S'Ran said.

Lacey laughed at her big brother but agreed with him.

(Garnet, could you please come get me? I am sleepy)

(Coming Lacey)

Lacey met Garnet in front of the dining hall & they flew off to their 
apartment. Lacey almost stumbled off of Garnet & into bed. She was asleep 
almost before her head hit the pillow.
