(DL-N) Getting some sleep
[DL] Meena
Meena decided after the first yawn, that it was probably time to head up to
bed. First she walked over to Rybeth's to get Demee.
"Heading to bed already, dear." said the older woman.
Meena smiled, "Yes, it's been a long night. I thought I'd come get Demee."
"He's sleeping soundly. Why don't you leave him here and come back in the
morning. I'll bring him to the dining hall for breakfast."
"That would be wonderful, Rybeth." She chuckled. "I hate waking him up just
to take him back to bed."
"Then it's settled. Maybe you should go back to the party and find yourself
a little company for the night." the woman winked at her.
"Rybeth!" said Meena with a teasing expression. "You are bad."
"Oh, now, come on. A pretty young thing like shouldn't keep to yourself so
much."
"I don't, really. I just... Well, I'm too tired for that anyway." Meena
turned to leave. "I'll see you in the dining hall in the morning."
"You're too young to be alone, Meena."
"I know, Rybeth." Meena hurried out and met Vonn.
<She's right, Meena>
<Vonn, have you been eaves dropping again.> she chided her dragon.
<You should mate again.>
<I'm not ready.> she said simply, <not for something full time like that. I
think I'll stick to just your flights, my love>
<I don't think you even enjoy those.>
<That's not true, Vonn. I've enjoyed all of them.>
<Then why do you not see thier riders again?>
<Vonn, I don't want to talk about this right now.> Vonn was silent the rest
of the way to the apartment. They both settled down and soon Vonn was sound
asleep. But Meena lay looking at the ceiling, unable to sleep.
It was true, she hadn't much enjoyed any of Vonn's flights. The first one
had probably been the worst. It had only been a little over a month after
Devon's accident and she had cried through most of it. Rillith's rider,
R'tem, hadn't understood her grief and was quite upset when she had rebuffed
him after that. But she had not been able to explain at the time. Now the
two rarely spoke.
The second had been almost a year later. Meena was sure that Vonn put it off
as long as she could to prevent Meena another horrible experience. Neither
that one nor the last one had been anywhere near as bad. Both flights had
been with the same dragon. A beautiful green dragon named Werenth. Vonn was
quite attached to the dragon, though unfortunately Meena couldn't say the
same about herself and Werenth's rider Jahn. Not that she didn't like Jahn.
He was a nice enough man. He was however, almost 10 years her senior, and
most importantly he wasn't Devon.
He was nothing like Devon. Sweet, beautiful Devon, whose face was still so
clear in her mind. Most likely because Demee had the same face. Meena
finally fell asleep dreaming blissful dreams about Devon again.

Meena woke in the morning later then she had planned. By the position of the
sun, she could tell that breakfast would be over soon. She quickly jumped
out of bed and dressed, feeling guilty for making Rybeth wait for her.
"Vonn," she called, "Are you awake?"
<Yes,> came the sleepy call.
Running out she almost tripped over one of Demee's toys that was laying in
the middle of the common room floor. Sighing she picked it up and placed it
safely out of the way, before jumping on Vonn's back.
They glided down to the dining hall and Meena hurried in looking for Rybeth
and Demee. She didn't see Rybeth, but she heard the small voice call,
"Maamaa, maamaa." She saw the boy racing to her as he jumped into her arms.
"Hello, my darling boy. Did you have fun with Rybeth this morning."
He shook his head, and pointed, "Sasha." She looked and saw the girl
sitting with several other children. She walked over to her.
"Thank you, Sasha."
"It's no problem, Meena. Rybeth was exhausted so I took over." she said smiling.
"She's lucky to have you, otherwise she'd probably never get any sleep."
