Naomi tried briefly to reach her sister but the emotions that had opened up
Lacey's mind had obviously gone now, so she contacted Garnet and had her
relay Meena's instructions about leaving Demee with Rybeth.


*...and ask Lacey to pop in when she has time please Garnet.  I need to
discuss her saying she could see dragon affinity in Demee.*


*She'll be with you soon.*  Garnet told her


Naomi rubbed her temples, soothing the tension growing there ready to become
a full-blown headache if she let it.  How to resolve this latest upset
without conflict with the Landbound Lord?  His threat to cut off their
supplies had to be taken seriously, although he would probably come out
worst in something of that kind.  The increased Wraith attacks would make
their mark if Norwall were to withdraw it's protection....


A light tap on the door called her back to her duties and she called;


"Come in..."


M'lent entered, accompanied by a tall stranger.


"M'lent!  I was going to ask you to come and see me...are you sure you're
not the telepathist here?"  Naomi exclaimed.  She noticed the stranger give
a small start of surprise at the word 'telepathist' and filed the
information away... 


"I've brought someone to see you Naomi.  This is Darrkon, and I met him just
tonight in Travellers Rest when I went to pick up Soliel's things.  He's
Joined with a wild dragon and has been living Warrenless..."


"Ah I see.  Please sit down Darrkon."  she said politely, nodding at the
chair in front of her desk.  "If you'll excuse us for a moment...  M'lent
could I speak with you outside for a second?"


She guided the Searcher into the corridor, and he started apologising


"I'm sorry Naomi... I thought you'd want to see him.  His dragons well-cared
for and he knows how to handle weapons......"


"Oh hush M'lent.  This has nothing to do with Darrkon." she said as he
stopped speaking "I want you to go and have a word with Lacey, and then take
a look at Demee for me."


"Meena's boy?  Why?"  he was surprised  


"Lacey told Lord Harkon that Demee has a strong affinity for dragons..." 


"Yes he has.  Very strong, not surprising with both parents having it.  But
I've never discussed it with anyone because he was already here at the
Warren.  How did Lacey know?"  


"That's what I want you to talk to her about!"  Naomi said  "If she can see
the aura then she needs training.  And who better to do it than..."


"Me!"  M'lent laughed.  "I'll go see her as soon as I leave here."


"Thanks M'lent."  she sighed  "I suppose I better get back to Darrkon.  Do
you think he can fit in here?  A Wilder?"


M'lent's nod was her only answer.  She stepped back into the room and closed
the door quietly behind her.  Moving around the desk, she seated herself
opposite Darrkon and studied him for a long minute before saying;


"Norwall has much to offer it's riders... what do you offer in return?"

*Not yet.  She sent me back to tell you what she is doing.  She is with
Devon's sire, and he will help her look for her brothers offspring.  I don't
like her being there without me...*   Vonn's thoughts showed her misery at
being parted from her beloved rider *She said I must stay at the Warren...*


*And you're worried about her?*  Naomi asked gently  "It's alright Vonn.  I
won't let her do this alone.  You can help her best here.*


*How?  She is there and I am here... I can't protect her.*  


*You can watch the thing she loves best after you.  Her son!*


*Oh I hadn't thought of that!*  the dragon's tone was much happier   *Thank you*


Meena and as old man searching the streets of Whitbarrow for a child that
might not even exist.  The more Naomi thought about it the more concerned
she was for their safety... they'd need help and protection and that meant
T'grat.


*Malachite?  I have a job for you and T'grat...*  


T'grat was the only man she could trust with this.
