[DL-N] Growing pains

Darrkon walked around his apartment thinking about the events of the last
few weeks. The arrival of many new allies, the recent marriage, and
another mating leading to more dragons for the warren. But each of
these events had some sort of darkness to it. With the arrival of new
friends came his enemy Ardomok. And though they could look forward to
many healthy new dragons and riders to come, the warren had lost some of
the most promising pairs. And now the woman Greta's death.
The first thing to come into his mind when he heard of her death was her
children. He knew neither of them, but wished they had been spared his
fate. Loosing ones mother at such a young age leaves scars that time
can never come close to healing. Thinking about Greta's death brought
his own pain to mind again. It seemed that was happening much more
often these days.
At least the children had T'grat. He seems a much better choice for a
father than the one Darrkon was left with. Although he's rather stiff
for a warren bred rider, and highly unreasonable, he would do those
children good.
He thought about the rumor that Greta had been poisoned. It was the
last thing Calindeth had told him before he left to go hunting. The
desire to hunt was perhaps the only sign of the old Calindeth left.
Otherwise his dragon had adapted perfectly to warren life. But the
poison...who would feel the need to poison Greta? She was no threat to
anyone at the warren, could it have been the poison was meant for
T'grat? Darrkon knew there was some question about the next heir to
Whitbarrow, but wasn't that resloved with the child of the lords new
wife?
Harkon. He remembered him well. The only lord he hadn't settled things
with. It was too late for revenge now. Not that being part of a warren
stopped him, but belonging to the same warren as Harkon's daughter did.
Another face among many he did not know well. She was his wingleader
now, which is why he could recognize her. But it ended with that. He
came to the warren to find a place amongst humans, and has succeeded in
isolating himself all the more. While his dragon, who was against the
idea from the start, has found a place and a kinship with his own kind.
Darrrkon walked to Calindeth's ledge. He had been thinking for hours
and his head was starting to hurt. The swirling air took some of the
tension away, so he ust stood there motionless. A few seconds later his
dragon called to him.
<I'm coming.> was all he said.
<Where are you?> Darrkon asked <I can't see you anywhere.>
<Let me show you.> Calindeth answered.
Darrkon sat down and closed his eyes. Soon the darkness was replaced by
a mountain ridge with many holes in it, a small speck was occupying one
of them. He knew he was seeing himself, which was a strange experience.
As Calindeth soared closer Darrkon saw himself in more detail. He
startled when he realized he hadn't placed his mask on. If anyone else
played this game with their dragon, they could easily see him. He
watched himself find his mask lying next to him and quickly tied it on.
Calindeth landed moments later and Darrkon mounted his dragon.
<A successful hunt?> Darrkon asked.
<Not as successful as I'd hoped.> His dragon rumbled. <Most weren't
worth the chase.>
<Better luck next time My friend> Darrkon replied as they landed in the
warren green. He had missed his workout with all his thinking ans
decided to put in some serious time at the gym. <Why not try your luck
now. I'll be here for a while.>
Calindeth didn't answer, but lay where he landed. Darrkon understood
that well enough. He turned to the gym to work out the kinks of mind
activity
