Day 7 Evening

Ka'Laren

Gripping his adopted brother by his long ragged braids, Ka'Laren lifted the
still-gory battle knife above his head. Finally, after all the years of
anguish and humiliation, he would have his revenge. He let a cruel smile
play across his lips.

Suddenly, the tunnel went dim.

"Huh," Ka'Laren managed just before K'Tarr slammed his elbow into the side
of the black pony-tailed hunter. Ka'Laren's grip loosened just enough for
the dragon rider to pull free. As he hit the ground a small cloud of dust
rose around him. He coughed once. K'Tarr could feel the fine sand in his
mouth and nose, he could taste it with the blood in his mouth.

Just before he blacked out, he thought he saw Kalena making her way down the
tunnel.

* She slid next to the wall.  She could smell blood, and she could feel
death in the air.  She knew she must hurry.  The smell of the blood was much
closer now and she prepared her bow and arrow and sent a message to Doni
that it was time to move.
*More light flooded the tunnel and she saw her target immediately letting
the arrow sail through the air, hitting him in the shoulder.
Ka'Laren spun around, the fine arrow stuck deep in his shoulder.

*Ka'Laren hadn't seen where it came from, but could tell it was from a
student of K'Tarr.

It was one of those damn fine arrows he always made, with those pure white
feathers. He screamed as he yanked the arrow free from his arm, sending a
splatter of blood over the unconscious form of his adversary.

"Not today, K'Tarr. You were lucky. But I'll be back and I'll kill you and
your student!"

Gripping the bloody wound on his bare shoulder, Ka'Laren turned and ran.
