K'Tarr
K'Tarr's wounds weren't too serious, but he would need a few days rest to
fully recuperate. Jill had bandaged his cracked and broken ribs, applied
some congealant to the worst of his open cuts and told him to sleep. When he
woke, he found Kalena's small form still resting in the chair by his bed.
He smiled and stiffly pushed himself up on one elbow. He reached out to
brush a lock of her hair from the corner of her mouth when someone tapped on
the door. It was Roz.
"K'Tarr, are you awake?" He asked as he pushed his head in. The young man
had obviously been up all night, helping repair the damage to the warren.
K'Tarr sat up slowly one hand resting gingerly against his ribs. "What's
wrong?" He rumbled back.
"Darrkon and S'ron need your help. We have to prepare·"
"Prepare nothing!" Kalena piped in. "K'Tarr needs to rest! He's hurt badly
and -"
"Kalena. I have to go." K'Tarr turned to the young woman who had rushed to
his defense.
"The warren is still in danger."
Kalena started to protest, but K'Tarr stood up and grabbed his torn and
stained vest from the table nearby. He stiffly put it on and turned to
follow Roz, but then he stopped. He turned back to Kalena. "Are you coming,
then?"
<Early morning>
Darrkon and S'ron were talking to themselves as Roz lead the other two
riders to them.
"K'Tarr, it's good to see you," S'ron began. "Kalena filled us in about your
half-brother's attack. I'm glad he didn't kill you."
"Do you think he will attack again?" Darrkon asked quickly.
"No," K'Tarr said after a slight wince. "Ka'Laren is too proud to return
right away. Now that he knows Harrkon and his men have a stake in this,
he'll wait until we are at our absolute weakest. Then he'll attack."
"Hmm. He may not get a chance. Galen would know the best times and ways to
attack the warren. Harrkon could win this battle." S'ron said quietly.
"Well then, we'll just have to change the way we defend the warren." K'Tarr
nodded as he spoke.
"What do you have in mind, K'Tarr?" Darrkon smiled slightly as he asked.
"I'll need some people." K'Tarr shifted his weight. "Some rope, some
sharpened stakes. I'll need someone to find Antwin, I'll need his help,
too."
"Roz, round up whatever K'Tarr needs." S'ron ordered the younger rider.
"K'Tarr, your wounds· will you be all right?"
"I'll be fine. I'll rest later." K'Tarr nodded and he, Kalena and Roz headed
off to gather some workers and some supplies.
[Tag Anyone]
[nrpg- K'Tarr is hurt, but still in the game. He'll be busily setting up
boobie traps along the outskirts of the warren. Anyone want to tag along?]
