[The med centre, K'lvin and Cat]
"And this is
for you too." he told her softly as he handed over a tiny box. "It
isn't much but I thought of you as soon as I saw them. Daimon said I
could change them if you don't like them but I hope you do."
"Oh!" Cat's squeaked.
Opening the box had revealed a pair of fine gold earrings. The tiny
golden cat's heads that dangled from the thin wires had tiny ruby eyes
that sparkled in the light.
"These are for me?" she asked in a quiet voice, gazing at him with
huge eyes.
He nodded, pleased that she seemed to like the gift.
"They're beautiful."
"So are you." he told her in a rush. "And if you don't stop looking
at me that way I'm going to have to kiss you again."
[new]
"Oh!" said Cat, so startled she dropped the little box onto the
bedcovers.
Seizing his opportunity, K'lvin lifted her up and kissed her firmly on
the lips. And carried on kissing her ... After a second, Cat relaxed
into her arms and kissed him back with all her might!
Eventually it was K'lvin who broke off the passionate clinch. "Wow!"
he said. "Would I be right to assume you enjoyed that too?" Cat just
grinned.
"What do you think?" she asked, impishly.
"Well ... I thought that perhaps ... well, after the Lake, and the way
you ran off ... well, I thought I might have scared you." he said.
"Scared me?" said Cat, with a laugh - though there was a touch of
tension, of brittleness, even, in the laugh.
"What should I be scared of?" she continued, though her voice seemed
almost nervous now. Anxious to change the subject, Cat started
searching through the bedcover for the jewel box.
"Here!" she said triumphantly, producing the box again. "I'm going to
put them on straight away!"
With that, she whisked the small wire rings out of her ears, and
carefully replaced them with the golden cats. "Do they look nice?" she
asked, shyly.
"Just lovely," replied K'lvin. "Cats for my Cat!"
"But I must give you a present," she frowned, climbing out of the bed
and picking up her backpack.
"No, honestly, you needn't ..." protested K'lvin, but the girl was
adamant.
Her back was towards him, but K'lvin just caught a glimpse of silver
as she unwrapped something from a square of material. She held it in
her hand for a moment, then replaced it in the material and hastily
folded it up again. After a few more moments of rummaging, she pulled
out a small brown fur bag, about the size one would keep a set of dice
in. Around the top of the bag was a silk drawstring, and the ends of
the drawstrings were weighted with swirled glass beads.
"Would you like this," she asked softly, handing K'lvin the bag.
He examined it carefully. The fur was exceedingly soft, and the
stitches so small as to be invisible.
"It's not rat skin, in case you were wondering!" said Cat abruptly.
"It's baby rabbit," The girl didn't even realise that to many people,
skinning a baby bunny was just as distasteful as the thought of a rat
skin bag!
"Did you sew it yourself," K'lvin asked, changing the subject.
"Yes," she replied. "Are you surprised?"
"Well, yes!" said K'lvin. "You don't exactly seem the typical little
needlewoman, do you!"
"So ... do you like it?" she asked in a worried voice.
"You made it, so I'll treasure it," he promised, putting the bag away.
"Now, how about another kiss, before Faith comes back?"
Cat dropped her gaze.
"I'm shy," she said quietly.
"Oh, come on now..." said K'lvin, teasingly, putting his arm around
her.
"No! Really!" Cat pulled away, quite upset now.
"Will you go now ... ? Please?" she asked, almost in tears.
"Yes... of course..." replied a confused looking K'lvin, moving
towards the door.
"But..."
He turned at the sound of her voice.
"Come back sometime soon..." she finished softly.
[NRPG: No one's ever actually kissed Cat before, so she's a bit
freaked out by all the attention ;) In fact, she's scared out of her
wits! ]
