Evening Day 6
He came and left so suddenly. She didn't understand the man that brought
her the gift of the beautifully decorated bow and quiver of arrows. She
was stunned. It was an unusual gift for a woman, but Kalena realized that
it was truely a gift from his heart, which stunned her. She had only met
the man.
She let her fingers gently caress the bow. It was beautiful. She wished
she had a talent of some sort so she could give him a gift in return. But
she didn't believe that she had anything she could offer to the hunter.
She sat down on the couch and sighed softly.
<My rider,> queried Donjanth, <The only thing Qualis' rider wants from you
is for you to look at him the way Reggie's rider looks at Flerrion's rider.>
*You are a silly dragon.* she thought back.
<Makron told me not to say anything. He says human's do not listen to
dragons about such things. He also said that dragon's are usually right in
these matters. I alway believe what Makron told me.>
She sighed again. Wishing she had something to give to this quiet man.
Her friends at Daere all seemed to have a talent of some kind. Mari could
cook, and the beautiful leather poducts that Allora made. There was
nothing she could do.
Her thoughts were again interupted by her dragon. <My rider, you need to
eat.>
*Thank you for your concern, dear one, but I'm not one bit hungry.*
<But you must eat. We will be joining the wing soon and you must keep up
your strength. I've been eating.>
*Well you certainly have.* Kalena giggled, *Enough for three dragons.*
<Hmph, I'm suppose to eat. I'm still a growing dragon.> Donjanth replied.
<But you also need to eat.>
*If I go get something to eat, will you quit pestering me tonight?*
<Yes dear.> Donjanth said.
Kalena sighed again and headed out to her dragon. She climbed upon
Donjanth back and was gently lifted down to the green near the dining hall.
As she entered the dining hall it only took her a moment to know that
Antwin was there and the mood he was in meant he wouldn't be there long.
Kalena grinned. Antwin had always been like a brother to her, and she was
so happy to have him back in her life.
She really hadn't gotten to know Talli much, since she had arrived. But
the impression she got from the girl was that she enjoyed a good time, and
she'd certainly get what she was looking for from Antwin.
"I haven't seen you all day." her thoughts about Antwin were disrupted by
Uncle's voice. "Trying to waste away to nothing?"
She smiled at Uncle and replied, "The way I have it figured, I'd be safe
in battle if the wraith's can't see me, they can't hurt me."
The older man scowld at her and promptly handed her a plate with much more
food on it than she thought she'd have room for. She turned around and
looked across the room. There wasn't a seat in the place. She began to
wander around with her food on a tray through the crowded room. Out of the
corner of her eye she saw an empty chair. By this time the music stopped
and she turned to see Antwin leaving with Talli. She grinned, that wasn't
a surprize, she thought as she headed to the empty chair, with her mind on
her friend. As she approach the table she saw him. Sitting alone at the
table.
"Ah, K'Tarr," she paused, "would you mind if I sat here with your?"
