Day 6
Dining Hall
Evening

K'Tarr was quietly brooding over his past few days in Norwall. He was so
engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't even see the activity going on
around him.

>"Ah, K'Tarr," she paused, "would you mind if I sat here with you?"

His thoughts dissipated like a thick fog as Kalena seemed to appear in
front of him. He awkwardly stood up in the dark corner he had picked to
mope in and promptly knocked over his wine skin. K'Tarr looked sheepishly
at Kalena as she stood staring at the expanding circle of red wine.

"I'm so sorry," He turned his eyes from her and quickly looked for
something to wipe up the spill with.

Kalena put down her tray and helped him clean up the mess. "That's alright.
K'Tarr. I didn't mean to startle you."

"I was just? thinking." K'Tarr said as he produced a wrag from his bag of
tools and began to mop up the wine.

"About anything important?" Kalena smiled slyly at him. The hunter had kept
his eyes down while they spoke.

K'Tarr turned his piercing stare onto her smiling face. For a moment a
silence hung between the two. K'Tarr looked as if he wanted to say
something to her, to share a secret. But then he turned his face back to
the spill. "Nothing important."

Kalena sat down across from him and retrieved her over full plate of food.
"I don't know what Uncle was thinking. There's no way I can eat all of
this!"

K'Tarr nodded in reply but said nothing. "Kalena?" he began after a moment.
"I? I want to apologize for last night."

"What do you mean?" She said as she began to eat.

"While we were in the forest, I?" He stopped and seemed to hunt for the
right words in his head. "I feel like I have offended you. When I brought
you to that small clearing, I had nothing but honorable intentions. I made
you uncomfortable, though." He finished speaking and leaned back in his
chair. The shadows in the corner obscured his face behind his tattoos.

Kalena stopped eating. She placed her fork down beside the large plate.
"You don't have to apologize."

"I do." Came the reply from the sullen hunter. She couldn't see his mouth
move in the dark and the words seemed to float out of nowhere. "I am new
here at Norwall and I've already managed to anger the Warrenlady and nearly
alienate my wing leader. I can't afford to drive anyone else away? and?" He
stopped. Clearly, K'Tarr was a man of few words. Opening up like this was
to bare a part of himself that he rarely shared. He struggled with what he
wanted to say next. "You know, Antwin is much better at this romantic
stuff. You'd think after travelling with him for so long, that I'd have
picked up some myself."

>From the shadows, Kalena could see the whites of the hunter's eyes fixed on
her again. That same stare that cut her to the quick. Her breath caught in
her lungs. She bit her lip and took a drink of the leftover wine before
replying.

[NRPG - Well, K'Tarr finally got the 'stones' to spill his feelings for
Kalena. How will she reply? Will the Hunter be crushed for life, or
rewarded with love? Tune in tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel!
