Evening Day 6/Morning Day 7
"That's quite a history, K'Tarr." Kalena said slowly and passed the nearly
empty wineskin back to K'Tarr. She was feeling warm and fuzzy from the
Hunter's strong wine, and she couldn't help smiling at the muscular man
before her.
K'Tarr shook the wineskin and smiled at Kalena. He knew she had to be more
than a little tipsy. She hadn't hardly touched any of the food on the
plate that Uncle had prepared for her.
"Maybe you should go inside and eat something. You did promise Uncle you
would before you went to sleep." he said to her as he stood from sitting
on the ledge.
"But you're not going?" she said staggering to her feet and nearly toppling
over the side. K'Tarr grabbed her arm, to keep her from falling.
"I don't have to leave, unless you wish it." he said looking into her eyes.
"Of course I don't wish it." she said as she again staggered slightly. "I
have more than enough food here for the both of us. Let's go inside."
K'Tarr help Kalena inside her apartment. She was becoming less and less
stable as time passed. Her small size and the amount of the strong wine
she had drank was becoming quite noticable. She attempted to reheat the
food that she had brought home with her from the dining hall, but soon
K'Tarr gently seated her and took over that duty.
"But..." she began to protest.
"Shhh..." K'Tarr countered, "Let me do this for you. It's not everyday
that a man offers to cook for you, is it?"
She shook her head no and sat and watch as the man not only reheated what
she had brought back, but made some scrabbled eggs to stretch the meal
farther. She tried to protest, but again was shushed.
He brought the food over and set a plate full of it in front of her. She
again tried to protest the amount of food on her plate and was again
quieted. K'Tarr was not going to take "no" for an answer, even though she
now didn't feel like eating at all, as the room began to spin. She knew as
soon as she took her first bite that it wasn't going to stay with her as
she attempted to get out of the room before she was sick, still staggering
from the excess alcohol in her system.
She made it to the doorway of her bedroom before everything that had been
in her stomach was there no longer. Between embarassment, frustration, and
still feeling ill, she began to cry.
