[DL-N] Decisions, a Redhead and a Mother!

{Day 11 Late Morning}

Breezy headed for the Med-Center she had told Cassandra and Dizzi that
she would call on Link. Naomi had left a detailed account of her
dealings with the family and it was a sad situation indeed.
Unfortunately it was now affecting Link's dragon Cloud.

Breezy grinned at the guards on Link's door as she approached. Nash
wasn't anymore happy having them here than Lilliana was. Healers were a
quirky bunch she thought chuckling to herself reflecting on Nash's
strong words concerning the guards. Considering what Healer's had to
contend with though it wasn't surprising they were a little odd and had
very definite views on things. Nodding to the two men she walked
through the door.

Breezy was a little unprepared for the man's height. He towered above
anyone she had met so far, even sitting on the bed he had a few inches
on her. What was with all these tall people around here. Not that she
was overly short really but Breezy sure felt that way as there seemed to
be an excess of six footers running around. Even the new warren lady
towered over her. The only ones she had run across that were shorter
were the children and Kalena. Thinking about the small woman Breezy
sighed inwardly thinking that was another battle to deal with. K'tarr
was right in that the two women had to somehow come to terms but Breezy
very much doubted that Kalena would be very receptive to anything she
did at the moment.

Link's guarded look brought the redhead out of her deep thoughts.
Breezy put on her firm but friendly smile as she introduced herself.

"I've heard about you!" he said warily.

"Good then we can do away with the usual pleasantries and get down to
business." Breezy said feeling the man's antagonism. "I will tell you
that I am not here in an official capacity at all. I am here at your
Mother's request."

The tall man snorted, "She worries too much!"

"Considering yourself lucky you have someone to worry about you!" Breezy
answered shortly. "Listen Link, I understand what it's like to be
hurt!" she said slightly brushing her side. "A warrior does not take
well to being...uh...out of action for any period of time. Goes against
their nature." Breezy said feeling his eyes watching her every move.

Trying the diplomatic approach she said, "Things are going on here that
don't bode well. I have a feeling that we are going to need every able
body we can out there. You fighting the Healer's is just plain foolish.
You're no good to us like this."

"You don't understand!" Link almost growled at the redhead.

So much for diplomacy she thought answering in the same tone, "I don't
have to understand! Your driving need for vengeance is yours alone! But
how do you expect to accomplish anything in the condition you're in, how
do you expect to protect the ones that love you if you're useless."
Breezy's anger flared at the arrogant look Link was giving her. Meeting
his glare she added "And you will be useless if you continue in this
manner."

Unknown to both Cassandra had arrived and was outside the door listening
to the exchange.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself Breezy continued gently, "Link I am
sorry about your father, unfortunately this world is made up of small
minded people willing to destroy that which they don't understand. It
must be a very helpless feeling not knowing whether you could have made
a difference that day."

Link turned away from Breezy as memories flooded his mind.

Breezy drove the point home firmly, "And history will repeat itself
because you will be to weak to stop it."

His eyes were blazing with a mixture of pain and anger as he turned
towards the little redhead. "Just what do you mean?" Link almost snarled
at her.

"There's already been one attack, I doubt it's the last."

Breezy pursed her lips, "You know my dragon Coo has taken quite a fancy
to your niece Dizzi. She is a sweet little girl and I would hate to see
something bad happen to her." Breezy continued a little sharper than
intended, "And just because old Uncle Link was wallowing away in his
stubbornness and refused to let his wounds heal."

Link looked like he was about to smash her face in, but that was ok
Breezy thought. She hit a sore spot but it was making him think. "If
Rogues were to attack now, do you think you would stand a chance.
Granted you might get one or too but the numbers would be against you.
And if they can't get to you they might go looking for an easier
target........... Breezy let the sentence drop letting her words soak
in. Then she said smartly, "And all because you refuse to stay down for
a couple of days to heal." Breezy hated emotional blackmail but it was
the only thing she could come up with at the moment. But she knew how
paranoia ran, if these rogues that were after Link because of his
abilities and did manage to kill him they wouldn't stop there. They
would go after his family for fear that they were *infected* too.
Paranoid types had a tendency to view things they didn't understand as a
type of disease that they personally needed to eradicate. She wasn't
sure Link had even thought of this yet, that the females he protected
could be in very real danger. How Cassandra had escaped their wrath was
anybody's guess.

Sighing she looked at the angry man. "Now Nash says if you would stay
down and quite fighting him for a couple of days you would be well
enough to return to duty. Things are quiet for the moment your family
is fine and there are plenty of people around to help if need be."

There was a challenge in her voice as she stepped up closer to him so
they were facing each other, stubbornness sparked between them as she
asked without expecting an answer, "But I guess that's really up to you
now, isn't it!"

"Well enough of that I did want to talk to you about
your...ummm.....special abilities." Breezy saw the instant withdrawal
in the man's eyes. Before she could say anything else Cassandra came
charging into the room.

"My son is perfectly normal!!! I will not have you..." Cassandra
yelled. Breezy quickly stuck up her hand to silence the woman's
outburst.

"Cassandra! Sit down and be quiet!" Breezy demanded in a tone that
brooked no argument. The older woman glared at Breezy but remained
silent. Cassandra was fuming as took a seat.

"Cassandra, I understand your concerns for your son. But you know what,
he's a big boy and it's time to face facts. Link has his father's
abilities and that's just the way it is. It can be a blessing or a curse
however you chose to view it."

Cassandra started to open her mouth and Breezy's eyes narrowed and she
shook her head warning the older woman to remain silent, "You both will
hear me out!"

Looking at Link, "You need to learn how to use your abilities, so you
can know how not to use them. Controlling them is the key, not letting
them control you. Once you have that control, then in all actuality
know one would even know you have them. That is unless you chose it."

Breezy stopped and watched the Mother and Son exchange glances. "I
think that's why you keep passing out, at least from what I can tell
after talking to Nash. You can't control it because you don't know how,
so you fight it instead and there is a battle that rages within you Link
and it's one you won't win if you keep denying it." Breezy glanced over
at Cassandra almost daring the woman to say something. "And as with the
other if you continue with this stubbornness there could be disastrous
results, you could lose control and somebody will get hurt!"

Taking a quick breath the redhead moved on,"Now Cloud somehow seems to
be affected by all this. A dragon is not made to take on the pain that
he has. You need to learn to get a handle on all of this one way or
another. Between your inner war with your abilities and your memories
you're destroying him. I have a very big soft spot for dragons and get
real testy when they start hurting especially when their pain comes from
human interference and you are interfering, with your dreams and
memories in Cloud's natural order of things.

Breezy glanced down at Cassandra then back to Link whom was watching her
intently. "I have a friend that helps people like you, unfortunately
she lives in the far south sadly since she refuses to travel by dragon
it will take her many days to get here."

Uncertainty etched the faces of the Mother and Son, so Breezy on a roll
now continued, "I do believe Naomi asked Jeneve to help you." Link
nodded. "I'm going to send for my friend but in the meantime you should
talk to Jeneve maybe she has some suggestions that might help."

Walking towards the door Breezy said, "I will leave you two alone now
but as I said Link this all boils down to you I think you have some
decisions to make. As I said before I'm not here officially only at the
request of your Mother and niece but if push comes to shove I have no
problem coming back for a second talk. Of course next time I doubt I
will be as nice. At this point I will not mention this to your
Wingleader but I will if I have too." With that Breezy slipped out the
door.
