[Day 12: Midday]

<snip from Peter's post>

Kaymann, Cat and Mentorn met for lunch in the dining hall. Securing
some food and a secluded table, they began to talk about the previous
evening's events.

"What we need," Mentorn began, "is to find out more about K'Tarr...
the
knife is connected to him somehow. The markings bear a striking
resemblance to his own. Any ideas?

<end snip>

Cat was staring moodily into space. Sure, this treasure hunt idea was
exciting, but she had an awful bad feeling about it.... And besides,
she had her 'training' session with Sabian that night to think about.

Mentorn gave her a nudge hard enough to bring her to her senses. "Wake
up, sleeping beauty - have you taken in *any* of what we've been
saying?"

Cat glared, but good-naturedly. "Matter of fact I have," she said.
"You were talking about K'Tarr. And the knife and that volcano
goddess - Mama-whatnot..."

"Mamatha," said Kaymann, softly.

"Whatever," agreed Cat. "Well," she continued, "I like K'Tarr and he's
a great guy - but if you think he's going to talk to you about those
tattoos of his... well, lets just say I'd rather it was you than me
who went and asked him!"

"Point taken, Cat," said Mentorn, "but maybe you're missing the point
that K'Tarr may *want* to know about this."

"About what?" she asked.

"About this," said Kaymann, producing the knife. "And the fact that we
have some knowledge that may be interesting to him - that his tattoos
may be connected to the worship of this Fire Goddess.."

"As well as the fact that the knife was given to Kaymann by this
Marssel character," added Mentorn.

Cat nodded reluctantly. "Okay, so he may be interested. But he may
know already. I mean, K'Tarr's not the kind of guy to get chatty about
his history - especially not if he's mixed up in this Fire Goddess
worship...."

"And what makes you think that this Marssel guy hasn't been lying to
us all along?," she continued. "I don't trust him an inch. All this
'treasure' business just sounds too good to be true. He *knows* you
guys, and he knows just what'll get you interested. Doesn't the fact
that he knows all that about you make you a little uneasy? Yesterday
was the first time I'd met him, and frankly he makes my skin crawl!"

"Cat, this isn't like you!" said Mentorn. "Think of it as a glorious
adventure! The chances for riches beyond belief!"

"Yeah," said Cat, cynically. "But I've still got a really bad feeling
about this... For all we know, we could end up doing this Marssel's
dirty work for him. Or it could be a trap"

"So you won't be joining our little expedition?" Mentorn asked.

Cat looked shifty. "Did I say that?" she muttered.

"All I'm saying is go cautious. And - when you *do* go to have that
little chat with K'Tarr ... can I watch?"

<tag!>

NRPG: Cat's a bit more suspicious, and she's also becoming a bit more
'reflective' and less of an Indiana Jones than the other two.. Problem
is, she just can't *bear* the thought of missing out on any of the
excitement ;-)

Please feel free to add anything in the middle of this too.
