Cat sighed.

<<I don't think talking's going to be much use with Anthra>> she said. <<You can talk to that dragon until you're blue in the face, but if she's made up her mind, there's no way you're going to change it. It looks as though she's decided that Dizzi loves Cloud more than she does Anthra, and Anthra's jealous>>

<Then perhaps we could show Anthra that Dizzi loves her too?>

<<Don't think it's that simple>> Cat replied. <<'Too' isn't good enough for Anthra - she wouldn't be satisfied until she knows that Dizzi cares for her *more* than anyone else!>> 

<Oh> said Belle. <And there's no way that's going to happen - Cloud is %**mi&^> 

<<Sorry?>> said Cat. She could understand what other dragons were saying *most* of the time, but sometimes their mental speech just dissolved into meaningless-ness.

Fortunately, Belle was an understanding creature, and saw how hard Cat was having to concentrate on comprehending her mind-speech.

Slowing down her speech, Belle repeated <Cloud is *family*. That will always mean a lot to Dizzi.>

<<Uh-huh,>> said Cat, understanding now. <<And I'm afraid Anthra's going to have to learn that, and learn it the hard way if necessary.>>

<You really don't think she'd listen?>

<<Absolutely certain>> said Cat. <<Look, I'm sorry Belle. You're a nice, kind dragon, and it must be really hard for you to understand someone like Anthra. But, I have to be honest - Anthra can be a selfish little bitch at times!>>

<But ... you're her rider! How can you say something like that?>

Cat chuckled. <<Don't get me wrong>> she said. <<The bond between Anthra and me is just as strong as between any other dragon and rider. But sometimes she just drives me *mad*! If you think *I'm* being disloyal to Anthra, you should hear some of the things I overhear her saying to the other dragons about *me*!>>

<I'm sorry, I didn't know> said Belle.

<<Hey, don't worry about it! >> said Cat, good-naturedly. <<Kaymann says I deserve a dragon like Anthra, and maybe he's right! I'm just glad she's asleep now - otherwise I'd never get away with talking to you like this?>>

<You're sure she's asleep> Belle asked.

<<Absolutely certain!>> said Cat, with a laugh. <<Otherwise she wouldn't have let me say all those things about her!>>
