With goodbyes and well wishes said, Clainn held his love tenderly in his arms as the dragons launched skyward. 

"I do hope she'll be okay!" Jeneve said softly as the dragons blinked out of sight.

Tears glistening in her eyes from the emotion of the farewell, Jeneve turned to Breezy. 

"This is bad, isn't it..." she said, in a soft voice.

"Of course," said Breezy, in an understanding tone, "goodbyes are always like that, but sometimes you have to realise that it's for the best, for the people who have to leave, at least."

"I know," Jeneve nodded, "but that's know what I meant. I mean it's bad for the warren. To lose three riders just like that. Especially so soon after the attack - how many riders are we down now? How many killed? Incapacitated or wounded? And what about the sick dragons and riders still quarantined in the Medical Centre?"

<tag Tree - sorry about the rapid-fire questions, Jeneve's trying to get her finger on the pulse! <g>

"We need more riders," Jeneve said, looking thoughtful. "I think you and I had better have that meeting with our searcher soon rather than later."

Breezy looked quizzically at the warrenlady.

"To check out Freya and Qua-non," Jeneve explained. "See if they've got dragon affinity. Heaven knows, we need them."

"But Jen," said Breezy, "even if they *do* have affinity, we don't have any dragons for them."

Jeneve nodded sadly. "You're right, of course. No clutch waiting to hatch, Amethyst unable to lay any more, and ... "

Jeneve hesitated as she realised that Malani was Norwall's sole breeding queen.

"And Malani still just a baby."
