Day 17, early afternoon, dining hall

<snip from Tree>
"And this fun day is another thing! Think about it and tomorrow morning we'll start first thing getting it planned, because vendors will have to be talked to and Uncle about food and so on. You and I will go together, but Jeneve as the Warrenlady you need to do most of the talking! The inhabitants of this warren need to know you!" Chuckling she added, "They already know the bitchy redhead!"

Fear etched the young woman's face and Breezy grinned, "Dragons never make a mistake and Malani picked you for a reason. Jeneve, trust in your golden queen, she's probably smarter than all of us put together!"

With that said, Breezy left the dining hall leaving behind a slightly bewildered Jeneve.

<end snip>

Jeneve shook her head sadly.

<I expect you heard all of that...> she asked Malani.

<<Of course, my dear>> the queen calmly replied.

<And?>

<<And I think you have work to do. Some appointments to make for a start>>

<Appointments?>

<<Well, Lilliana, and the trades guildmasters would be a good start...> Malani prompted.

Jeneve smiled ruefully, and nodded.

'There's nothing like a dragon to tell you what you already knew but didn't want to think about,' she thought, as she rose to her feet and walked back to her office.

As she opened the door, Fang jumped up from his customary place under her desk and padded over to greet her, his tail wagging.

"Hello there, boy," she said, absentmindedly scratching his wiry head.

Sitting down at her desk, Jeneve pulled out a sheaf of papers and a pen. Half an hour later, a pile of letters had been written, to the guildmasters and mistresses of the various crafts - weavers, silversmiths, tailors, carpenters, as well as the entertainers - there would have to be be singing and dancing, games and acrobatics. Not to mention mountains of food - she'd have to talk to Uncle, too. She had decided that it would be best to have one big meeting, to discuss how best to organise the event. From the dragonriders' side, Breezy would be there too, but who else?

Jeneve frowned. K'tarr seemed an obvious choice, but would he think this was out of his area and a waste of time? And what about Galen? He neatly spanned the gap between riders and what Jeneve occasionally found herself thinking of as 'ordinary' warren folk - so much so that she often had to remind herself that he *wasn't* a dragonrider.

Who else? Jeneve hated these kind of decisions. Miss someone out, and she could have an enemy for life. Invite the wrong person and everyone would think (or was that 'know'?) she didn't know what she was doing...

Jeneve was just about to get up and start delivering the letters herself when she remembered that that wasn't her job. But Cyrus would do it for her. Come to think of it, perhaps Cyrus should be at the meeting, too - to take notes, and keep track of things. Yes, Cyrus was so good at things like that. And Cyrus could also set up the meeting Jeneve and Breezy needed with Lilliana, about the worrying situation in the medical centre.

<tag Ben, and anyone else - she's off to find Cyrus>

Day 17, mid afternoon
Jack and Breezy

<snip from Tree's post>
"Well, hello pretty lady and how are you today!"

"Actually I'm hungover as hell Jack!" Steering the man into his office she shut the door behind her. "But I got something bothering me and you're the only one that can help me!"

A huge grin crossed the young man's face, "Well Gorgeous, I am always at your disposal!" Sitting in the chair behind his desk he indicated for the Sr. Wingleader to sit.

"Well," Breezy said almost coyly, "We need to talk about your sister and the fact that things have a tendency of moving by themselves when she's around!" Sitting in the chair the redhead relaxed with a smug expression on her face. She liked Jack, they had developed an easy-going repetoire bantering back and forth about, pretty much anything.

*Gotya!* She thought, leaning back in the chair the Breezy almost busted out laughing at the shocked and wary look that came over the accountant's face.

<end snip>

"Umm, moving around?" he said, warily.

"Yeah, sorta all by themselves," replied Breezy.

"Oh," he said, avoiding the senior wingleader's gaze. "So she's still doing that..."

"Yup," said Breezy, "and what's all this 'still' ?"

"Well," said Jack, looking almost embarrassed, "I thought that must have stopped happening. Especially since no one had said anything about it after she came here."

Breezy nodded, seriously, and waited for him to go on.

"Does anyone else know?" he asked.

"Well, from a couple of things Naomi's said, I'd guess she knows," said Breezy, "but other than that, no one's saying anything."

"That's a relief," said Jack.

"How long's she been able to do this, Jack?" Breezy asked.

"I guess it started soon after Malani died," Jack began.

Breezy started, raising her eyebrows, before she remembered that Malani was the name of Jeneve's baby sister, as well as her dragon.

"She became withdrawn and, well, sort of intense," he continued. "She just threw herself into her painting, and no one could really get through to her. She'd hardly even talk to me, and we were always so close. And that was when I first noticed it."

"And she didn't?"

"Nope," said Jack. "It didn't really happen much. And as the years went by, it seemed to be less and less. She just wasn't conscious of it - it only happened when she was concentrating on something else," he said. "It was as if while she was busy thinking about other things, her mind would do the little trivial things, like picking up pencils and turning pages."

"And pushing her hair behind her ear?" added Breezy, impishly.

"Does she still do that?"

"Yup!" said Breezy, with a laugh. "But go on - you said you thought this had stopped..."

"Yes," said Jack. "Once I'd got her set up in her studio, I saw less of her, but now that I think of it, I haven't seen her move things about for, oh, it must be two or three years."

"Well, she certainly hasn't lost the knack," said Breezy.

"Do you think we really need to tell her?" asked Jack. "I'd been trying to keep it from her all these years. Is it really necessary?"

"But Jack - it's a gift! She deserves to know!" said Breezy.

Jack looked glum. "I know. And normally I'd agree - if it was anyone but my sister we were talking about. But it's just that I don't know how she'd cope with it. I've always tried to convince her that she was, well, 'normal'. Certainly not ordinary..." he said, with obvious pride for his sister glowing in his eyes, "... but not some kind of a freak,"

"There are people here with gifts just as strange as Jeneve's" said Breezy, gently. "You can rest assured that no one at Norwall would think she was a freak."

"I guess so," said Jack, nodding his head. "I mean, sharing your life with a King-sized reptile is a pretty weird thing to do, and that seems to be pretty normal round here."

Breezy almost burst out laughing.

"No offence intended!" Jack hurriedly added, "it's just that it's something I've never been able to get my head around."

"No offence taken," Breezy replied, good naturedly. "But the problem remains, what are we going to do about your sister's strange talent?"

Jack shrugged his shoulders and spread his hands. "I honestly don't know," he said. "But whatever you decide, I want to be involved. And please - if you have to tell her, tell her gently."
