Day 16 The green
<snip from Max's post>

*Belle*

<Anthra?> she repeated but the young black didn't seem to notice.< Anthra.> she repeated again.

<What?!> Anthra snapped setting Belle back a step or two.

<I just wanted to know if you were okay.>

<I'm fine!> the black snapped,< What makes you think that I won't be!>

Belle was shocked.< With the expression I saw earlier I thought you needed a ...>

<You thought wrong!> Anthra snapped as she turned and walked away.

<Where are you going?> the green asked with a little concern in her voice.

<I'm going to take a nap.> the black said.

<end snip>

Seething, Anthra stalked away, and curled up alone. She wrapped her tail around her and peered over it, glaring through slitted eyelids at the cosy sleep-heap of dragons.

Anthra had no intention of sleeping, and even if she had, the thoughts churning in her mind wouldn't have allowed it.

<<Anthra?>> Cat's voice came plaintively into her head.

<Yes?> snapped the dragon.

Hearing the dragon's tone of mind-voice, Cat decided to tread carefully. <<I don't know what you're upset about, and I'm not going to interfere, but, well, could you try to *relax*? You're giving me a headache!>>

<Headache? You don't know what a headache *is*!> spat Anthra. <Quit whining and get out of my head!>

Cat sighed and 'tuned out' of Anthra's wavelength. There was no reasoning with the black dragon when she was in that kind of mood.

Anthra went back to her seething. It hadn't occurred to her to be upset when Dizzi had declared that she loved Cloud. Hurt, yes. The little girl's words had cut the dragon like a knife, but Anthra didn't *do* upset!

She turned Dizzi's words over and over in her mind. *Why* had she said she loved Cloud and not Anthra. To the mixed-up dragon, it mattered not that the little girl had never said she didn't care for Anthra - the fact that she loved Cloud was enough of a rejection for the black.

<Poor hatchling> she thought. <They've brainwashed her. She's a gentle soul, and she's happy that Cloud's rider didn't die>

Though why Dizzi was so close to Link was another thing that eluded Anthra. If it had been Amy who had been hurt, that would have been different - Amy was like a mother to Dizzi, and even Anthra harboured slight warm and respectful feelings towards her mother, Amethyst. But Link? Link was just a male! To a dragon, the concept of 'father figure' was a difficult one to grasp, and to a dragon like Anthra, it was impossible!

<I'll win her back> mused the black, as a puff of smoke escaped her nostrils.

Anthra settled down to sleep and dream bitter dreams.
