[..] Day 14 Later that evening on the green - Jeneve and Breezy
greeting the new arrivals
<snip>
As the guard motioned for the robed group to follow him, Breezy said,
staring at the silver sashed leader, "I do believe it would be safe to
return their weapons to them."
The man nodded in thanks and the group walked off after the guard.

Jeneve watched the strangers until they were out of earshot, then
grabbed Breezy by the arm and started dragging her in the direction of
the warren offices.
"You *know* those people?" she hissed.
"Well, I know *of* them...." Breezy answered her eyes widening at
being so unceremoniously drug along..
"I didn't have a clue who they were - I could have said something
*really* stupid. Instead of just sounding *slightly* stupid," Jeneve
continued, rolling her eyes in exasperation at herself.
"I had Coo tell Malani you did just fine, Hon!" Breezy said sucking in
her lips to keep from laughing.
Jeneve was striding towards her office, wearing the expression mid-way
between determination and panic that Breezy was gradually growing used
to.
The redhead stifled the patient smile that threatened, knowing it
would only aggravate the younger woman.
"I only hope it was wise to let them keep their weapons..." Jeneve
said, grimly, as the senior wingleader half-walked, half-jogged along
beside her.
Opening the door of her office, and sweeping in, Jeneve took off her
cloak and threw it over a chair. The cloak started to slither onto the
floor, until Jeneve shot it a glare out of the corner of her eye, and
the fabric twitched and hooked itself obediently over the back of the
chair. Oblivious to the cloak's obliging behaviour, Jeneve grabbed the
ever-full flask of hot coffee, and poured two cups of hot black liquid
for herself and Breezy.
"Right, first coffee," she said. "And then you've got to tell me
*everything* you've ever heard about those men!"
Breezy's eyes widened her mouth almost falling open as she stared at
the cloak. She really had to take the time to talk to Jack in more
detail about his sister.
Seeing the looking on her second's face Jeneve was unsure whether the
Senior Wingleader was surprised or offended.
"Please?" Jeneve continued, "I mean, those guys are weird! Norwall's
got enough enemies - we don't want to offend them. But how do we know
we can trust them?"
"Listen Jeneve," the redhead said calmly accepting the cup of coffee,
"if only half of what I've heard about the Travelers is true." Breezy
chuckled, "Giving back there weapons is a mute point."
The blonde's eyes grew huge, "You don't think they are a danger to
us?"
Breezy's face was somber but her eyes danced with mischief, "Well I
guess that depends on bad you piss them off when you meet with them."
Jeneve's eyes grew huge, "Oh no I don't want to do that. You need to
coach me tell me what to expect how to handle this situ...." the tall
blonde stopped in mid-sentence seeing the amusement on the Sr.
Wingleader's face.
Jeneve sighed, "Breezy why do you always tease me, I can see by that
look you're teasing me now."
Breezy chuckled, "Well for one because and I can and for two it's
because you are so much fun too tease."
Jeneve's shoulders slumped and her head bowed in good-natured
resignation and she looked up at Breezy with a girlish grin.
"I guess I *do* rather ask for it," she said. "Well, if you can put up
with my dumb questions, I guess the least I can do is bear with the
teasing!"
Then Jeneve grew serious again. "But if these Travelers are so
powerful, what do they mean when they say they come here seeking
'knowledge'? What kind of knowledge could we possibly have that could
be useful to them? And what purpose would they put that knowledge to?
I'll be honest, Breezy - they scare me. Not because of the way they
look, though I will say I think they're as spooky as anything. But
because of what they could *do* to us. You're right - we can't risk
offending them. But I wish I knew what they were up to..."
A sly look crossed Breezy's face as she leaned back into the chair
staring into the now empty cup. She had come to dearly love Jeneve's
innocence in the short time she'd know the younger woman. The tall
blonde was a great target for Breezy's warped sense of humor and the
redhead took advantage of it whenever possible and a quick witted
answer was on the tip of her tongue but decided against it hearing the
genuine worry in Jeneve's voice. Taking a little more serious route
Breezy said, "I can't say that spooky is the term I would use to
describe them. Interesting I think would be more like it." Sighing
deeping, "Dangerous or not Jeneve, I really don't think they are here
to
cause problems. They may be good but we have them on numbers alone and
no human or five is dumb enough to take on a league of dragons. That
would be merely foolish on their part."
"That's true," the Warrenlady said apprehensively biting her bottom
lip.
Breezy chuckled and shook her head at the younger woman. "Jeneve, god
forbid I have been known to be wrong on occasion, of course don't let
that get around now." Grinning the redhead continued more seriously,
"But going on what I've heard I think there is a good possibility that
the Travelers are exactly what they profess to be,
Scholars of sorts, men of peace so to speak. Jeneve, even men of
peace must be able to defend themselves and their beliefs and in a lot
of cases even more so than men of war."
"I can see that," Jeneve said, nodding seriously. "But I'd still feel
happier knowing their motives... Like you say, they can't take us on
head to head. But what if they're spies? They could take away
information that would leave us wide open to attack."
Jeneve sighed again. "But whatvever they are, I don't want to
antagonise them. I guess the best course of action would be to take
things slowly, treat them courteously, but not give away too much
until we've got a better idea of what they're up to... How does that
sound to you, Breezy?"
The Sr. Wingleader refilled her cup thoughtfully, considering some of
the interesting things that Dizzi and the other kids had shown her and
the fact that characters such as Marssell went in and out as they
pleased, Breezy figured the Travelers were the least of their problems
but she wasn't about to tell Jeneve that. She already had enough to
worry about.
"It sounds great. Definitely a wait and see attitude is in order."
Jeneve smiled and put down her coffee cup with an air of decisiveness.
"Thank you, Breezy. I'm glad you said that."
NPRG: Jeneve's not stupid, but boy, can she be naive sometimes! <g>
