[DL-N] Ambushing the Ambushers

Day 15 - Dusk
Landon sat down and rubbed his forehead, cursing the powers that be for
falling in love with a barely tamed wild woman who could hide in the forest
with little to no effort. He had been stumping around, looking for the
blasted female so that he could bring her back to the warren for a good
scolding and a pleasant make-up thereafter.
**Ah-ha! You're starting to think more like me all the time.**
<Vlad, can the I told you so speech. You see anything?>
**I've got nothing, Landon. Short of razing the forest, I doubt that we're
going to find her.**
<Any luck contacting Vandira?>
**Well, I'm sure I could find her, but that would involve a telepathic
broadcast that would alert every dragon in the vicinity. Given the rogue
activity in the area, I don't think that's the key.**
Landon sighed in frustration, beating his head a couple of times against a
tree. She should have come back by now. At least that's what had happened
before. Then again, she did have a child-like mentality, which would throw
any sort of consistency out of the window. Regardless, it worried him that
she might be captured or injured..or worse.
<Vlad, we have to find her. I have to know that she's okay.>
A whoosh of air and a thump nearby caused Landon to look upward, scanning
the skies. <Vlad, did you just land?>
**Yes, and real quick, too. A group of dragons just blinked in nearby.
They weren't facing me, but to be certain I dove down to land. **
<Is everything intact?>
**On me, yes. The trees however are a different story.**
Walking towards where he heard the thump, Landon stepped across a couple of
fallen trees, victims of Vladiggor's rapid descent. Vlad's large blue head
stuck out from between a couple of trunks, a sheepish grin on his face, **As
I said, the trees are a different story.**
Landon smiled wryly and scratched Vlad's head affectionately, <I take it
that they weren't ours.>
**Nope. They were probably rogues.**
<Seems to be a chronic problem around here.>
The pair laid low for a bit, then Vlad craned his neck, peering just above
the treeline. Coming back down, he looked at Landon, **They appear to be
sitting on a ledge, waiting.**
<But waiting for what I wonder. I need to get closer.>
**Hold it, I don't think you want to do that. They're flying down.**
<Can you see anything?>
**Nope. If they aren't above the treeline, I can't see a thing. I think
we should wait it out.**
<Not if Jasmine's there. Can you contact Vandira?>
**Still too risky. Those guys are definitely rogues and if I don't know
she's there, they'll pick up on us rather easily.**
Landon grumbled and leaned up against Vlad. The duo waited for about a
half hour, then Vlad spoke up **The pain! Landon, those dragons just
suicided!**
Landon heard the anguished cries of dragons coming from nearby, shaking his
head sorrowfully, **I'm sorry Vlad.**
**Well, there are going to be quite a few more deaths before the night is
over. A flight of rogues just flew off, headed towards Norwall.**
<Damn! They're going to need our help.>
Landon quickly scrambled onto Vlad's back, buckling himself in as Vlad
launched into the air, <You know where they're 'porting into?>
**I've got a pretty good idea. What say we surprise them.**
<Exactly what I was thinking.>
Vlad circled for a short time. Then with a mighty roar Vlad 'ported..
Day 15 - Dusk as the battle is just joined
...and appeared behind the rogue's position. The battle had just been
joined, so they did not expect the huge blue dragon coming down from their
rear. Vlad inhaled, letting out a mighty blast of flame, engulfing two of
the dragons and their riders in a inferno, their cries quickly fading as
they fell to the ground below like flaming meteors. Swiveling around for
another attack, the pair new that would be the only free assault they had...

NRPG: Okay, so the battle is joined. The rogues should be a bit
disorganized, so have fun folks!
