Kay stood back to watch with the other new riders as their dragons began
running down the hill. Sabbith squealed with joy in Kay's head as he ran.
Kay grinned feeling the dragonet's excitement as he bounded down the hill
almost gliding.

<Oh Kay, we must fly soon, I can't wait much longer,> he squealed. Suddenly
the dragonet jumped high into the air catching an air current just right. He
found his feet a good distance off the ground. He was so surprised that he
tumbled landing on his head.

Kay's eyes opened wide and he took off in a run dropping to his knees in
front of the crimson dragonet, his hand flying wildly as the thought and
signed to the dragon at the same time. <*Sabbith, are you alright??*>

The dragonet looked up at him his yellow-gold eyes sparkling, <That was
amazing! Can I do it again?>

<Haven't you had enough?> 

<No, please one more time.> Kay looked up at H'nry who had followed the
young man to make sure the dragon wasn't injured, *He wants do to it again?*

H'nry grinned, "Sure why not." He turned to the others, "Sabbith hasn't had
enough, anyone else for another run?"

Kay watched as the large black dragon, Domino, dropped to the ground,
refusing to move, while his small rider beg him to do it again.  It looked
like all the large dragonet wanted to do was sleep. H'nry called to the
young boy, chuckling, "Don't worry about it, Ryan. There's always tomorrow."

Kay stepped back to let Sabbith have his second run. He was able to glide a
short distance without falling on his head this time. Sabbith was pleased
with himself and he hopped up and down jumping on his fellow hatchlings.
Making a deliberate course for Starburst and Eclipse. He had come to love
their double headed hugs.

Kay noticed that Sabbith, while still quite affectionate, was much more
careful when dealing with his hatchmates. He stepped on fewer heads now. Kay
was glad to see this as the dragon was growing at an amazing rate. While
still quite a bit smaller then Domino, he was quickly outgrowing most of his
other hatchmates.

As Sabbith had finished bothering Tahlaya's girls, much to their dismay, he
headed back toward Kay, <I guess I can wait for tomorrow for more flying.>

Kay grinned, <Shall we go and get you oiled, Sweet Sabbith?>

<Oh yes, Kay, that would be wonderful. I think I have a dry patch on my head.> 

<I can image, after that fall.>

<It wasn't so bad.> the Dragon yawned.

Kay turned around to see a pretty young girl, with shoulder length auburn
curls, standing behind him smiling. Her brown eyes sparkled with a bit of
amusement at his surprise. Kay returned her smile and waved.

"I'm Laria," she said.

Kay quickly fumbled to get his slate, and dropped his chalk pencil. He
blushed as he bent over to pick it up. Grabbing it he quickly wrote, [I'm
Kay.]  As he was making a fool of himself he missed his dragon moved over
and start to nuzzle with Vithraena.

She chuckled, "I know. I've heard about you already. I'm B'rin's sister, and
Vithraena's rider."

Kay nodded as he put a fist to the side of his neck and signed *Kalon*, but
was a bit confused trying to remember who Vithraena was.

<The queen,> came Sabbith voice, <My mother.> Kay looked a short distance
away to where the young crimson dragon was nuzzling with the metallic rose
queen.

"What does this mean," Laria said mimicking Kay's sign.

[Kalon], wrote Kay.

Laria nodded smiling, "I see. I like it. Vithraena saw Sabbith fall on his
head a little bit ago and begged me to allow her to come and check on him."

Kay grinned and rolled his eyes. Then he pretended to trip himself showing
her what a klutz the dragonet could be.  Laria laughed in delight watching
the young man with the expressive movements which talked in a way that he
never could have with sound.
