[DL-T] Running Downhill Requires Starting at the Top.

NRPG: For some of you this represents a slight jump forward in time. It's my
way of getting back into the thick of things. Also I'm (finally) trying out
the listserver, so you may get two copies.
RPG:
H'nry sat with the hatchlings and their riders eating an evening meal near the
pond behind the hatchling barracks. The little dragons had eaten and were
digesting in the setting sun. H'nry looked at the group. Some were so young.
Like Eliana, on her own for the first time. Others were wise beyond their
years, like Tara and Kay. Well, he thought, this evening will be something
special.
He stood and addressed them, "Over the past 2 days you've learned a great deal
about taking care of your dragons. Now it's time to teach them something.
Let's get them up and onto the practice green."
With some complaining from the dragons, H'nry and the riders, aided by
Dalanth, managed to get the group out on the green. It was empty, Beta wing's
practice having ended a few hours before, and Gamma's a few in the future.
H'nry had the dragons line up 3 abreast at the top of the hill on the eastern
end of the green. He turned to the young riders, "You are going to ask your
dragons to spread their wings and trot down the hill to the bottom. Then they
can go snooze."
"Why?" Tera asked.
"It'll give them a chance to get used to the feeling of air rushing past their
wings," H'nry replied.
"Will they fly?" Tahlaya asked.
"Probably not. That's why you fed them first. That extra weight usually
keeps them on the ground. Tomorrow we'll do this before feeding and most of
them will take off. Any other questions?" H'nry looked around and saw none.
"Ok. Dalanth will instruct your dragons as they go down the hill. He
training them just as I'm training you."
NRPG:
Just a short one since my time is short. Feel free to have your dragons have
a run at it. If they take off, that's fine, and be sure to expand on the joys
of flying (or at least gliding a few feet).
Respectfully submitted,
H'nry - Dalanth
