Danielle looked after Daemon as he left when some of the newly joined 
gathered around her and excitedly began to tell her about their new 
dragons. Danielle tried to keep up but kept anxiously looking around the 
room expecting Teslin to show up and start more trouble. He had actually 
tried to kill her the night before. She was terrified. She barely touched 
her breakfast and then excused herself from the others.

She went looking for Sandor and found him in his office.

"Sandor, I have a problem" Danielle said 

"I think I know what you are going to say, the rumours are flying fast 
and thick around the warren" Sandor replied.

"Well, the truth is, I ended things with Tes yesterday and when I went 
back to get my things he tried to kill me!" Danielle said, her lower lip 
quivering, remembering the scene "If it hadn't been for Daemon, I don't 
think I'd be here."

Sandor nodded "I understand. And you don't feel the two of you can work 
effectively in the same wing, correct?"

Danielle nodded.

"I understand. Let me think about things and talk to the other wing 
leaders, ok?" Sandor asked

"Thats all I can ask" Danielle said "I was even considering transferring 
to a different warren, but Telnor is my home. I won't let him drive me away"

"Danielle, may I ask you a personal question?" Sandor asked. Danielle 
nodded and Sandor continued "I know he saved you yesterday from Teslin, 
but don't you think you are moving just a little fast moving in with that 
wilder?"

Danielle actually laughed a little at that. "Sandor, you should know me 
better than that! Look how long it took for me to settle down with Tes. 
You know I like variety and like to play the field. I have no intention 
of settling down with anyone any time soon, if ever. I am just staying 
with Daemon right now because I am scared of Tes."

Sandor shook his head. "Danielle, please be careful. Don't hurt anyone 
and don't get hurt yourself, ok?"

"I won't, Sandor" Danielle said "remember, I have been told at one time 
or another that I have a heart of stone." Most people didn't know that  
that stone was a fragile crystal that was easily chipped and damaged. 
Danielle very rarely let anyone know when she was hurting. That took 
trust, and she didn't trust easily. She thought bitterly to herself "Look 
what happened when I trusted Tes"

Danielle left the office after Sandor had excused her from practice 
today. He had offered to excuse her from patrol also but Danielle thought 
it would do her good to be up flying and talking with Sabrina.

She met Sabrina and while they were flying patrol they talked a little. 
Naturally, Sabrina had heard about what had happened with Teslin the 
night before, but she wanted to talk with Danielle about it.

"Let's talk over a late lunch after patrol, okay?" Danielle asked 

Sabrina agreed and they continued patrol.

Later at lunch, Danielle told Sabrina the whole story. By the time she 
was through, Danielle had tears in her eyes again. Sabrina hugged her 
close and let Danielle cry it out again.

"I still care about him, Sabrina" Danielle sobbed "But after what he did, 
It's over"

Sabrina held Danielle, cursing Teslin under her breath for going so far 
and ruining a second chance at a relationship with Danielle.

Time passed as the two girls talked and then Danielle excused herself to 
go lay down and take a headache remedy. "All, this crying has made my 
head hurt." she complained.

She went back to the place she had been sharing with Daemon, took the 
remedy and fell sound asleep.

(Danielle? Daffodil's rider wants to know if you want to go to a beach 
party that Vithreana's rider has planned)

"A party that Laria is giving? The little princess herself. The cause of 
all my problems?" Danielle thought bitterly

(No, tell her I still have my headache and wish to stay here)

(She says she hopes you feel better and will see you tomorrow)

Danielle just lay there, thinking about everything that had happened.
"Why me?" she asked herself
