Lyonnia woke up groggily and stretched luxuriously. My, she thought, this
bed feels good. She snuggled in deeper, wanting only to sleep. All of a
sudden, though, the past day flashed through her mind and she flew up from
the bed. She looked at her wrists and ankles, noticing she wasn't tied
anymore. She examined her wrists; she saw the rope burns, proving that she
had at one time been tied.
She threw back the covers (soft furs, she noticed) and swung her legs over
the side, looking about the small room. She seemed to be in a cabin of
sorts; most likely a hunting cabin, she thought. It seemed homey though,
like it was lived in quite a bit.
It took her a moment before she noticed that all the walls were solid. There
were no windows in her little room. The only source of light was coming from
two candles sitting on the table.
"Damn," she swore, so they wanted to keep her ignorant of where she was.
Lyonnia got to her feet, swaying slightly and having to grab the bed to
steady herself. She waited until her dizziness had abated, then look around
the room for a weapon of some kind, cursing herself that she had left her
knife at the warren: this would teach her to be unprepared.
It might have been the sound of her moving around, that alerted the man out
side the room that she was awake, or he may have just been checking up on
her when the door opened and the blond haired raider walked in.
"Well I can see you're finally awake," he remarked with a slightly mocking
bow. "I do hope your little nap refreshed you, even if it delayed your
departure form our hospitality." He informed her as he pulled one of the
chairs from the table, turning it around so that he could straddle the seat
and rest his arms on the back rest.
She just stared back at him, the fire in her eyes telling him without words
what she would like to do to him. She kept silent though, deciding that
getting mad at him wouldn't do much to add to her cause.
"I'm having some food brought in for you to eat, since you missed your
evening meal," his green eyes took a slow lazy look over at the bed. "And I
won't have you going back to your warren with tales of how I starved you.
Lyonnia saw where his glance travelled and blushed in both anger and
embarassment. He had better not have, she thought, her hands involuntarily
clenching into fists. She calmed herself down with an effort, opening back
up her fists.
If he noticed her silent outburst, he said nothing about it. "When you are
finished I will take you to a point in the hills, where your fellow riders
will be able to come and pick you up. Rescue you from my evil clutches," he
smiled wickedly at her, green eyes leaving her in no doubt he found her
appealing, making her blush again. Then he sighed, "If only I hadn't given
my word to the other rider that I would turn you free......I could be
tempted to get to know you better."
He stood up then and walked across the room until he stood towering over
her. His hand reached up to play with a strand of her unrulely red hair. A
sad wistful smile curved over his lips as his eyes met hers.
"I think I'll claim one prize to remember you by, before I let you go," his
voice soft and mesmerizing, as if casting a spell around her, leaving her
unable to move or protest as his mouth moved to cover hers, in a kiss so
soft and sweet, that it left her dazed and confused.
Lyonnia had never felt the things that flowed through her. One moment she
was hating this man, the next, she only wanted.....wanted......what did she
want? But she was quickly getting light headed, just wanting more of the
kiss and forgetting about what had happened in the past few hours. So she
was just a little surprised and regretful when he pulled away, breaking
their kiss.
"So," he said, smiling lazily, "I see you want it too."
Lyonnia blushed once again, furious with herself. This was the man who had
kidnapped her and had her trussed up..... Then again, she thought, he was
also the one who put me into this cabin, and let me sleep in his bed....
She shuddered, wondering if anything had gone on in it. The shudder,
thought; she couldn't tell if it was revulsion or pleasure. That both
mystified and scared her. Now she understood Dianthus' desire to hurry
along with her mating flight....
Dianthus! *Di, can you hear me?* she asked, eager.
<LYONNIA!> The mental voice gave Lyonnia a headache. <WHERE ARE YOU!!!???>
Just then, the Shadow grabbed her arm. As if he was reading her thoughts,
he said threateningly, "I wouldn't show her this cabin if I was you. It's
much too small for her, and she might reappear as part of the bed over
there. Don't get any ideas."
Lyonnia, who had been just about to do that, nodded wordlessly and sent *I
don't know.*
<PLEASE TELL ME.....>
*STOP YELLING!* Lyonnia sent, her head pounding. There was a pause, then
<Please, tell me where you are!>
Lyonnia looked up at the Shadow's beautiful, calm face, then thought *I'm
sorry sweeting. I can't.*
"If It'll make your dragon feel any better," he said calmly. "Tell her that
I'll be releasing you soon, but if I see, or my dragon senses any other
dragons in the area, I'll drop you to the ground from up above, before I'll
allow myself to fall into any of their traps."
The hand he layed against her cheeck, was warm and tender. It made a lie out
of his harsh words. Somehow, Lyonnia *knew* the blond haired bandit wouldn't
harm her. He might want to scare her a little, but he wouldn't harm her.
She didn't want to be the one to force his hand so she nodded her head
and silently agreed to do as he said. She wouldn't try anything foolhardy
that might get herself killed. And her dragon.
"What do you want me too do?" her words barely above a whisper, but he heard
them anyway.
"I want you to tell your dragon that I am going to take you to a place
where you will be safely let go," he instructed. "When I am gone, you
will take off your blind fold and then you can give the picture of
where you are to the blue," an amused expression crossed his face, "If
your blue wants, she can bring the other dragon rider who stayed behind
to wait for you."
Still staring at him, she thought to Dianthus *Di, tell H'nry that I'm okay
and that the Shadow is going to take me somewhere, where I'm going to be let
go.*
<Consider it done!> Lyonnia heard the relief prevalent in the dragon's
voice and smile slightly. "Done," she said to the Shadow.
"Good, good." He drifted over to the bed, where he sat down on the edge.
"Okay. I have a little question to ask you. There's a certain new
dragonrider I'm interested in." He shrugged. "Personal reasons. But I
would like you to please tell me about her."
Lyonnia stared quizically at the man. "I'm not going to tell you anything,"
she said determinedly, curious but resolute in her decision.
"Ah, but you will. Her name is Tera."
Suddenly, Lyonnia remember the attack less than a week ago on Tera, and she
flew into a rage. "You...you..." she couldn't get the words out. Her hands
clenched and unclenched by her side spasmatically, and she felt herself
getting VERY mad. "Did you order what happened a week ago?" she said very
slowly, emphasizing each word.
"Do what?" he asked, a faint frown on his face.
"You know exactly 'what'" Lyonnia answered, getting madder by the minute.
"You ordered that attack on Tera, didn't you?"
"Attack?" He stood up from the bed and strode over to her. His lazy smile
was gone, replaced by an utterly expressionless face. "You're going to tell
me everything that happened a week ago," he said, his voice bordering on
deadly and anxious.
Nonplussed by his reaction, Lyonnia was silent for a moment, then told him
all she knew about what had happened. With each of her sentences, his frown
deepened, and Lyonnia changed her opinion: he really may NOT have known or
order the attack.
When she finished, he started pacing, muttering to himself. Lyonnia didn't
catch much, except the occassional "Tera" and "bastards". He did this for a
few silent moments more, then he abruptly stopped and, whirling on Lyonnia,
stated, "We promised to get you safely to your leaders. We'll do that now."
He grabbed a cloth from his pocket and tied it securely over her eyes.
Lyonnia gave a brief thought to resisting but decided against; it would only
discomfort her. She wished she had taken those self defense classes with
Tera and Dirk; she probably could have used them sometime in the past day.
Blindfolded, she was led outside and, walking a little way, was ordered to
mount a dragon. Only being able to feel her way up, she took a little
longer mounting but, finally, she was up, and felt someone mount behind her.
Then they took off; Lyonnia could feel the air rushing over her as they
climbed higher. Then she felt, rather than saw, the darkness of between.
***************************
A few moments later, she was deposited safely, if a tad roughly, onto solid
ground once again. Ripping the blindfold from her eyes, she turned and saw
the huge green with its blonde rider taking off. The man waved once to her,
then the pair disappeared, teleporting back to wherever they began.
<Lyonnia!!!>
Whirling about, she saw a huge sky blue blob racing towards her, followed by
other blobs. As they neared, she saw that the blobs were dragons, with
Dianthus leading the pack.
*Di!* she yelled, racing towards the approaching dragons.
