Kay watched as Danielle explained to the Warrenlady what had happened, but
he found his mind drifting back to Lyonnia's disappearance and the strange
voice he heard in his head. It had seemed so unreal .. so un-draconic.
<It wasn't a dragon, silly Kay. It was Lyonnia> said Sabbith again. He'd
only told his rider this several times already. He couldn't understand why
Kay refused to believe it.
Kay was about to protest again at Sabbith insistence that he had heard
Lyonnia when he realized that was the only explanation for it. He began
wildly signing, *I heard her! I heard her!*
Ophelia looked at him, not knowing what he was doing. Danielle looked at
him, "Heard who, Kay?"
Kay looked at them. <Violet, tell Danielle I heard Lyonnia!> he sent to
Violet as he signed again, *I heard her!*
Danielle's face went blank for a moment as she spoke to Violet. She looked
at Kay in surprise, "You heard Lyonnia? In your head? She spoke to you?"

Kay and Sabbith landed not far from Dianthus was fidgeting nervously. Kay
helped to keep her calm while Ophelia and R'chein talked to H'nry.
<I'm worried about her, Kalewyn.>
<I know you are, Dianthus, but we'll find her. The green promised not to
hurt her. I believe him.>
Sabbith wrapped his larger body around the blue helping to comfort her.
<I talked to her briefly, but she wouldn't tell me where she was.> Dianthus
moaned.
<I'm sure she had a good reason.>
Kay looked back toward H'nry who was still talking to Ophelia.
<Kalewyn! She to be released!>
<Where?>
<I don't know. The green is going to tell Dalanth> the blue dragon was
becoming more agitated as the need to see her rider grew.
Kay turned to see H'nry approaching. "Kay," H'nry said facing the other,
"You have to keep her here. She might not make it if she were to try to
teleport to Lyonnia."
Kay nodded as H'nry hopped on Dalanth to get Lyonnia.
Dianthus was jumping, <I have to go, Kalewyn .. I have to go.>
<You can't Dianthus, you don't have a rider to help you.>
<You could help me. Won't you be my rider so I can get to her?>
Kay paused for a moment. H'nry would probably be upset and Sabbith might feel ..
<No I think you should ride her, Kay. I wouldn't be able to wait to see you
either.>
Reluctantly Kay agreed. Sabbith moved away from the blue as Kay jumped up on
her back. Together they visualized the right spot. In an instant they were
there and Kay was sliding off the blue's back so she could go to her rider.
Kay turned to see Dalanth landing just behind him. H'nry hopped of his
dragon and ran to Lyonnia, giving her a big hug.
Then H'nry turned and headed toward Kay. He wasn't smiling. The older man
faced the taller lad, "I told you to keep her where she was."
*She would have gone anyway. She wanted to see her rider,* he signed slowly.
"I know, Kay. But she's not your dragon. What if you had visualized wrong?
We might have lost both of you."
*I'm sorry. I didn't want her to go along. I was afraid she might*
"Don't take chances like that."
Kay looked down, feeling bad for having disobeyed H'nry. H'nry patted his
shoulder, and when Kay looked up at him, he said, "I'm not mad, Kay. You
just scared me." Kay nodded, and H'nry continued, "Let's get you back to
Sabbith."
Just then a dark red form appeared in the sky over them. H'nry sighed, "Like
rider, like dragon." Kay missed his words as he ran to his dragon.

Later that evening Kay saw H'nry in the dining hall sitting with Susan. He
headed toward the man. H'nry grinned and motioned for him to sit. Kay shook
his head and signed, *I would like to talk to you in private after dinner.*
H'nry nodded, "I'm done now. Is now okay?"
Kay nodded. H'nry gave his apologies to his dinner partner and followed Kay
out of the hall. Walking to an out of the way spot, Kay once again
apologized for what had happened earlier that day.
"It's okay, I was just worried about you."
*I know.* He fidgeted a bit not sure how exactly to bring up the real reason
he wanted to talk to his mentor.
"Is there something else, Kay," asked H'nry having a hard time catching the
boy's eye.
Kay nodded *It's about Danielle.* he signed. He used the name sign he had
made for Danielle which was a hand closing gracefully into a fist while
circling his face.
"Who?" asked H'nry not recognizing the sign.
Kay pulled out his slate and wrote the girls name.
"Ahh," said H'nry.
*She kissed me.*
H'nry fought hard to keep the chuckle from showing on his face. Not that it
would have mattered, Kay was far to distracted to notice. *But the dragons
say she's mated with ..* He wrote the name, [Dameon]. *She says that she's
not ..*
H'nry held up his hand. "I think I get the picture. Let me see if I can
explain this to you."

NRPG: Sarah, I didn't do anything with the red-headed boy as you had already
written him into your post (which I got while I was working on mine) and I
couldn't find a way to add him to mine. (I was actually going to make him a
girl.. but oh well :} So who he is is still up in the air.
Alton, Have fun with this one :}
