[DL-T] OF Two Minds

Ga'brin was of two minds as he left the dining hall. He wanted to go
striate to his mate with the news Lyonnia had just told him, but he
also knew Ophelia should be told. As he had told the young rider, the
Warrenlady might know something about the attack on his mate by now.
Know why this Shadow person was so interested in Tera.
Well he could be as interested in her as he wanted, Ga'brin thought,
but he will never get the chance to get close to her, if he could
help it.
Lyonnia had said she believe the man, when he had told her he knew
nothing about the attack, Ga'brin reminded himself as he changed
directions and headed towards the Warrenlady's office.
]]Preston will you ask Beryth if Ophelia is in her office?[[ he
asked his dragon, then waited for his answer as his steps drew
him closer.
[Beryth said yes and her rider can spare you a few minutes if it's
important.] the royal blue dragon answered back.
"Oh it's important all right," Ga'brin muttered to himself when he
stood knocking on her office door. At her bid of *enter* he walked in.
"Warrenlady something has just come to my attention that I think you
should know," he told her, taking the seat she offered. "It has to do
with my mate, Tera and this Shadow jerk"
Had Ga'brin been looking straite at her instead of the things on her
desk, he might have wondered about the shocked expression that came
over her face. But by the time his eyes did meet hers, she'd regain
control over her feelings.
"Yes what is it that you heard?" she asked trying to sound casual,
but concerned at the same time.
Ga'brin who's emotions were in such an uproar between extreme anger
towards the raider, and the need to protect his love, didn't even
noticed.
"I just had a talk with Lyonnia, the young rider who was snatched
by the Shadow's dragon earlier," he told her then paused.
Ophelia nodded for him to go on.
"She came looking for me after talking to you when she arrived back
at the warren, with some interesting news..." he didn't try to hide
the bitterness in his words. "She told me the Shadow asked her about
Tera. By name."
Ophelia's face paled, but she said nothing.
"Seems he wanted to know all about my mate," his voice was thick
with carefully suppressed emotion, but the knuckles of each hand
were white from the death grip he had on the side rails of the chair.
"Lyonnia told you *that*?" the Warrenlady asked, her voice sounded
sweet, but Ga'brin knew from past experiences, the young rider was
in for it. She should have told Ophelia from the start.
"She found me in the dining hall and asked if I knew of Tera having
any enemies or such, " he replied, remembering the line of events in
his head. "When I told her no, That she had come here looking for her
brother Traplin. But that she learned he had died sometime ago. No
enemies. That's when she told me the Shadow had asked about her and
when Lyonnia accused him with ordering Tera's attack, she said he
became angry and denied it."
He gave a humorless laugh, "She told me she believed him!! Him a
criminal telling her he had nothing to do with it, and she believes
him!" A worried expression mared his handsome face, as he got up and
began to pace around the room. Then he turned back towards her, coming
to stand before her desk.
"Lyonnia told me this because she cares about Tera and knows I'll do
*anything* to keep her safe. What I want to know is, what are you going
to do to help catch this guy?" he spoke with a slow calm tone of voice.
"My mate won't be totally safe until you do.

Lyn: I thought I'd give you some reason to call Lyonnia back into your
office like it said you do in her post. Give her h---- for not telling
Ophelia when they first talked......
