[DL-T] A dragon's dinner.

Afternoon of Tera's dinner party.
Tahlaya climbed up onto her dragon, puzzled by Sandor's reaction.
{He was Sudellath's rider's brother's partner!}
<Sorry Sunny, who was?>
*Dinnan's rider!* Eclipse replied and then turned to her twin, *Why are
humans so dense Sunny?*
{Because they don't listen, Ipsy!}
<Hey hey, I did listen, I just don't understand what you two are talking
about.> It was Tahlaya's turn to sulk.
{*Don't sulk!*}
{Who is Dinnan's rider?}
<Sandor,> Tahlaya was beginning to get exasperated playing twenty questions.
*Who is Sundellath's rider?*
<Tera. Why are you....>
{* Who is her brother? *}
<Tera's brother?> Tahlaya had missed the fact that her dragon had said 'who
*is*' not 'who *was*'
<Tera's brother was Trap.>
{She now has all the parts to the puzzle.}
*I wonder how long it will take for the lights to switch on?* came the
sarcastic reply of her dragon.
<Are you saying that Trap was Sandor's partner?>
Sunburst and Eclipse let out a loud snort in affirmation.
<But that doesn't explain the way he looked at her that way,> she was still
confused but with a different set of clues.
<Do you know why?>
The girls gave her a mental shrug and Tahlaya knew better than to try and
prise more information out of them.
**********
Before the dinner party.
Tahlaya looked in her mirror for the hundreth time. She couldn't believe
what she saw.
"God what have I done?" she said again.
{Cut your hair...}
*And got some nice new clothes.*
The voice of confusion filled her mind, as her dragons couldn't understand
why their rider felt so bad about the way she looked.
'I need a second opinion.'
> <Sunny can you ask Sundellath's rider to come over please.>
> *Why do you always ask *her* to ask the messages?* grumbled Eclipse.
> {Because I don't muck the message up like you my dear Ipsy.}
> *I don't!*
> {Do too!}
> *DON'T*
> <Girls stop this. Eclipse, I ask you as often as Sunny, now stop the
> bickering.>
> Ten minutes later Tera arrived.
> "What is it 'Laya?" came the bright and cheerful voice of Tahlaya's
> friend.
> Tahlaya came out of the bedroom and said, "What do you think?"
Tera looked incredulously at Tahlaya.
"Wow! You look erm..."
"I knew it, I look ridiculous." Tahlaya sat on the sofa resting her head in
her palms.
Tera sat next to her, putting a friendly and comforting arm around the
dispondant woman's shoulder.
"Now that's not what I said. You didn't give me time to catch my breath. It
was such a surprise. I only saw you a few hours ago and you didn't mention
anything about having your hair cut or getting new clothes," she said,
glancing over the tight leather bodice and leather ridding pants that
Tahlaya now wore.
"Stand up and let me look properly."
Tahlaya stood up and let Tera look over her.
"Wow, you look fantastic. It must have cost a fortune. You'll be baking
cakes till Ophelia retires," she giggled.
"And babysitting. Do you really think it... I..."
"Hey, you know me, would I let a friend walk around looking like a dragon's
dinner?"
"Yes!" both girls giggled.
"Wait till the other's see you later. They won't believe the change."
"Ahh. There is just one small problem," Tahlaya sat back down next to the
blond girl.
"I have to babysit for the silversmith, part of the payment for this."
She fingered the doubleheaded silver dragon that nestled above her cleavage.
"Oh 'Laya," pouted Tera. "I thought you would have wanted to come?"
"I would have loved to but I now have obligations and as you said they will
take some paying back. I have three cakes, and several hampers and goodness
knows how many dinner parties to do in payment.Oh talking of which," Tahlaya
got up and walked over to her kitchen. "I made this for this evening, " her
voiced bounced around the almost empty room.
She came out with a dish of various deserts.
"I thought these might come in handy, " she giggled putting the dish
carefully down on the coffee table.
"You trying to make me fat?" chuckled her friend, looking at the creamy,
chocolatey confections.
"No I'll leave that up to Ga'brin."
Tera turned a deep pink.
"Is it that obvious that we want children?"
"The girls told me and I promise I won't say anything to anyone, as long as
you don't mention this," she twirled around to emphasize her point.
"I promise, " Tera made her way out to the ledge where Sundee, Ipsy and
Sunny were nose to nose in deep dragon talk.

Everytime I try to catch up, you guys kick the ball further away. *sigh*
Barb, This is a backpost as we seemed to be at cross purposes with my
previous post.
As happens to me *grin* The girls will most prolly tell Sundee bout Sandor.
Wasn't quite sure how to fit it in without takin the mood down.
All I'm tryin to catch up, honest. Will be easier as kids go back to school
tomorrow :))
