Hero or Villain

Hero or villain.

Within the week he would find out.

Everything was set. Shadow's men were all in position. Now nothing
was left to do but wait. Two day from now the separate parts of the
caravan would be coming together. Believing themselves safe from
the raiders because of their large numbers. That would be their
first mistake. If everything went off as planed, the caravan would
disappear without a trace. Or seam too.

Shadow had done his homework well during the planning of the raid.
He'd scouted out the same route the caravan would be taking, buy
land and from the air, looking for the perfect spot to ambush it.
And he'd found it.

Diemis had willingly aided his human in the air surveys, taking
any excuse to fly with his human. It was on one of these trips
that Shadow had found the caves.

>From the ground, the caves where all most undetectable, unless
you knew they were there. A person could walk right by the hidden
entrance and miss it. If it had not been for the far seeing eyes
of the green, Shadow would never have discovered them himself. As
it was, the caves would work out as a fine place to hide the
stolen tithe offerings until such time the raider bands had been
rounded up.

Should there be a search by the Warrens, (and he knew there would
be) unless they knew exactly where the opening to the cave was,
they could fly over it a hundred times and still not find it with
the extra work he had done on it.

Three days to a week and it would all be over. One way or another.
Trap had decided that his life as The Shadow had gone on long
enough. It was time for him and his green to go home.

He'd made a promise to his sister, one he intended upon keeping.
And with what he had put her through during the last three years,
he owned her that much.

But would he be treated as a hero for finally bring down the
raiders, or would he be sent from the Warren and branded a
Warrenless rider for his part in the planed raid on the tithe
caravan.

Only time would tell.

To be back at the Warren, apart of his sister's life once again,
would be like a dream come true. He had always meant to bring her
there one day. To get her away from their sour faced father, and
his new wife. He had known she wasn't happy, and how it had torn
her apart when he had left.

Oh how he had missed her. Her sunny smile, and the beauty of her
singing. She had said her new mate had been trained up as a bard.
Did they sing duets together? He wondered when the memory of
another's singing voice came to mind. A beautiful clear voice that
had haunted his dreams for the last two and a half years........

Would she want to see him after all this time. Would she still
care for him. Or had what ever feelings she had for him turn to
hate after the way he had deceived her?

"Soon," he told himself. "Soon and it would all be over and he
could go back home. As he drifted off to sleep, a smile crept over
his full lips. Somewhere in the night time sounds he could swear he
could hear someone singing Amber Moonlight..........

Soon.
