As H=92nry and Lyonnia followed the man the other split up in to pairs.
Tahlaya went with Storm, Tera with Ga=92brin and Kay went with Danielle. Ka=
y
had never been so nervous in his life. How could he possibly help if
someone where to sneak up on them? How could he protect Danielle?=20

He fingered the sling he had looped in his belt. He=92d never really used i=
t
as a weapon. Normally he only used it for hunting rabbits and other small
animals. He was a good aim, but could he use it against a person =96 this h=
e
didn=92t know.

Danielle must have sensed his nervousness, as she gripped his arm tightly
in reassurance. He looked back at her and she smiled. He nodded back trying
not to melt in her gaze. For Danielle, he had to be strong.

They walked around one of the nearby building looking for anything that
would appear out of the ordinary. Kay wasn=92t exactly sure what to look fo=
r,
but he=92d do his best to try and find it.

Kay and Danielle stopped short when a young man about Kay=92s size stepped =
in
front of them. It was the young gaudily dressed man. "Out taking in the
sights of our fair village, are ya."

Kay wasn=92t sure what to make of the young man. He knew his words didn=92t
match the feeling of distrust Kay got from looking at him. He turned and
saw Danielle frowning. "We=92re just looking, so you might as well leave us
alone."

"Oh ya do." the man laughed. He put an arm around Danielle breathing into
her face. "I=92ll show ya where the good stuff is."

Now Kay was frowning, he pushed the man back, *Keep your distance,* he
signed, knowing that the man probably wouldn=92t understand it any way.

The man grabbed Kay=92s arm, twisting it painfully, "I don=92t need you pus=
hing
me that waving your arms in my face either."  He released Kay, pushing his
back a few paces then turned his attention back to Danielle, "Now where was
I?"

"You were about to be sorry you picked on us." Danielle said sweetly.

Kay was scared for Danielle. What if this creep hurt her? He shook his arm
carefully and moved back to Danielle, placing himself between her and the
obnoxious stranger.

"Now listen, ~friend~." The man snarled. "I don=92t want to hurt you, but
you=92re coming between me and the lady, and I don=92t like that much." He
grabbed Kay by the shirt collar, pushing him off to the side. Still hanging
on to his shirt the man growled, "If I have to tell you one more time ..
I=92m gonna have to waste you." He forcefully shoved Kay, knocking him
against a barrel, before turning his attention back to Danielle.

The barrel Kay fell against, tottered back at the shock of his weight
sending him tumbling to the ground as the contents of the barrel, a sickly
sweet smelling wine drenched him. Kay watched as the man moved closer to
Danielle putting his hands on her. Had Kay realized that Danielle could
probably take care of herself, he probably wouldn=92t have been so angry, b=
ut
not realizing this the young man was fuming. He stood up, dripping with the
sticky stuff and charged at the man roaring a primal roar that vibrated
through his body.

Both the man and Danielle looked at Kay in surprise. The man did not have
time to react before Kay=92s full weight was thrown against him, knocking
both of them off balance.  Suddenly Kay felt hand pulling at him from
behind. It distracted him as he turned to find out who it was.  As he
looked up at Danielle who was screaming at him to stop, he felt a fist sock
his face, knocking him back to the ground again. He put his hand to his
face where there was blood coming from the corner of his mouth.

The man pulled out a belt knife and grinned evilly at Kay. "I told ya what
would happen now didn=92t I." He started moving toward the fallen lad.

Kay=92s eyes focused on the knife blocking out all else. Until he saw the
flash of red-orange flame and felt it=92s heat as he flew just over him. Th=
e
man screamed as the flame engulfed him. Kay felt the ground tremble as he
turned to see Sabbith roaring loudly.
