[NRPG: There was a bit of a crosspost, so I'm combining the posts here a bit.]

[Prania-- Keldarra, day after the big storm]

"Prania, you're still here?"

She looked up from her meal to see H'nry and Lyonnia of Telnor, and a
couple dragonriders she'd never met before.

"Yes," she answered, "and I'm still waiting to see the Dragonlady."

"You didn't get to see her yesterday?" Lyonnia asked.

"No, I got here in the middle of the blizzard. I was lucky to land without
crashing into something."

"Where are my manners," H'nry exclaimed, "Prania, I'd like you to meet
C'nis, formerly of Daere Warren, who is transferring to Keldarra, and
V'dar. V'dar is from the newly discovered Geode Warren."

"Newly discovered?" Prania asked. What did they mean, newly discovered?
Where did one hide a whole warren?

V'dar and H'nry filled the time while they ate, and waited for Christalla's
call, explaining the situation to Prania. A whole warren, indeed, several
warrens, undiscovered till now. It made her head swim. Fortunately, there
was soon a call from the empress.

C'nis bade them goodbye-- he would talk to the Warrenlady or to the
Dragonlady after they had spoken with her.

Prania delivered her message, then heard once again the story of the
discovery of Geode Warren. How B'rin, in a bad teleport, had ended up at a
strange warren that he had never heard of and that had never heard of
Telnor. V'dar had believed the boy and had gotten the image of Telnor from
B'rin's dragon and gone to Telnor, where the news of the "new" warren was
spreading like wildfire. Indeed, the news was now spreading around
Keldarra in much the same manner.

Christalla listened to all of this quietly. If she was shocked, it didn't
show outwardly.

After they had all spoken, she considered.

"We don't know, geographically, where this Geode Warren or any of its
sister warrens are in relationship to any of ours, correct?"

V'dar and H'nry both nodded.

"However, we do know that the Wastes are changing to the north of Telnor,
much as they did to the south into the Nomadlands." V'dar looked about to
ask a question, but H'nry gave him an "I'll explain later" look and
Christalla went on. "Have you observed any changes to the Wastes around
Geode, V'dar?"

"Not to my knowledge, my lady, but few people go there enough to say for
certain."

Christalla nodded. "It's possible that the changes to the north are
indicating expansion of the Dragonlands such that our warrens are now
touching your own. Might I suggest explorations to the north of Telnor,
H'nry-- see how far your dragons can go."

H'nry nodded.

"And, V'dar, you might want to do the same at your warren, most likely to
the south."

"We'll certainly consider it, Dragonlady."

"Thank you. Now, I believe there is a matter I need to discuss with H'nry,
if the rest of you will excuse me."

Prania suspected the matter had to do with Kalewyn and the murder charges
brought against him by Lord Etain of Raisa. She nodded and stood. "Is
there anything I need to carry to Telnor, Dragonlady?"

Christalla shook her head. "Just my sincere hope that Ophelia's recovery
is swift."

"I'll tell her, my lady."

"Thank you, Prania."

They filed out. Prania excused herself from the other two. "I need to be
getting home. Mom and Dad will be worried sick as it is."

Soon enough, she and Gwieth were appearing over the skies of Telnor, where
there was, blissfully, no snow. The atmosphere at the warren was festive--
B'rin had returned-- and she could see people setting up equipment at a high
point, but she had no interest in that. She only wanted to return to her
apartment, get a long bath, and some clean clothes.

It had been a long trip simply to deliver one letter.

Respectfully submitted,

  Prania and Gwieth
