*You don't understand ..* Kay signed in frustration. How could he? He could
hear .. he didn't know what it was like to be unable to communicate with
people. It had been his cousins who had taught him how truly terrible it
was. He looked sadly at H'nry, *The warren is not like the real world.
Sometimes I really believe it's all a dream I'll wake up from someday ..
only to find myself back in the loft of my cousin's Barn ..*

*It's not a dream, Kay.*

*I know. But it's not like the rest of the world. I've lived most of my
life being mocked and when I wasn't mocked.. I was ignored.*

*That was by small people who don't matter anyway.* H'nry insisted.

*There is one other thing ..* Kay began .. one thing that bothered him more
then even Rufus and Titus' treatment of him.

*What?*

*I've watched you all very closely. I've watched as everyone's faces lit up
when Tera and Danielle get up and sing. I've seen you all tapping your feet
in response to the flutes and guitars ..* He shook his head, *But I can't
join you in that. I know it must be a wonderful thing .. but I will never
know for sure. And I wish more then anything that I could. I would hate any
child to be missing out on those things as I am ..*

H'nry sighed and placed a hand on Kays arm. "That's just one side of the
enjoyment of life." He stopped talking as his eyes focused on something
behind him. Kay turned to see Kattibrie coming in with Tera. And in Tera's
arms was her beautiful son.

A flash of concern crossed Kay's face as he watched her cooing at Trebin,
and then the look was gone as Kattibrie's eyes met his. He didn't want her
to worry about this anymore then she already was.

The two women walked to where the men sat, "Kay, I ran into Tera on the way
over here and I asked her to join us. Is that all right?"

Kay nodded and smiled at Tera, he gave a quick smile to the babe, and then
looked away, as his own worried attacked him again. He remembered holding
the boy back when he was first born. What a joy that had been! But at that
time he'd never considered having children of his own. Now the thought of
becoming to attached to the idea scared him.

"My what a big boy, you are getting to be!" H'nry grinned teasing the
infant who smiled and chortled with glee as he grabbed at H'nry hand.
"He'll be up and walking before long!"

"Oh, don't say that!" Tera grinned, "He's growing so fast .. too fast." She
turned to Kay, "Actually Kay, that's one thing I wanted to talk to you
about .."
