[DL-T] Advice From A Shadow

<My rider Wyndamenth's rider is asking to see you,> Diemis told Trap, just
as the tall blond was dismounting from the green near the training fields.
He'd been planning on working out for a while, but as soon as he heard the
call from his dragon, a call he'd been hoping to hear, his plans changed.
<<Tell them where we are would you buddy?>>
It did talk long until he saw the smaller body of Wyndamenth circling
downward to land, and Ash dismount and come towards him.
Something about the look in the man's face should have warned him. As it was
he knew something was wrong when he heard the man's first words.
"You said if I ever needed any help, all I had to do was ask."
"You're going after him?" Trap didn't need to say more. They understood each
other.
"Yes."
"When do we leave."
"We don't. I can't ask that of you."
"You're not asking. I'm offering. You can't do this on your own."
"I have to. It's the only way."
Revenge was something Traplin understood all to well. It was a burning need
gripping every vital organ inside of you.
"What do you need me to do?"
Other questions didn't need to be asked. The why's and what for's. Not
between men like them. Other's might not understand the needs that drove
them, but that didn't matter. They did what needed to be done and left it at
that.
"I'll be leaving here soon," Ash told him. "I mean to break him, and I will
but I can't bring the Warren into this and I can't leave Wyndamenth behind."
"Not that she'd let you I'll bet," Trap grinned.
"No. But I can't let anyone know about her, or me being a dragonrider. I'm
sure you know what kind of problems that would cause? I need for you to tell
me how you hid Diemis."
Trap thought about what the man was asking. His thoughts flashed back over
the last three years. Back to his time as the Shadow. He thought of all he
had given up during that time and wondered if Ash`chenon knew what he was
getting into. He never asked the question allow. He owed the man that much.
"It wasn't always easy hiding him," Trap told him. "Most times because of
his coloring he could simply blend in with the trees and foliage in the
woods near the village we were living in. At night it was easier because he
blended in with the darkness... something your Wyndamenth may have problem's
with unless you find a way to change or hide her color."
"There are ways," Ash told him and waited for him to go on.
"Then too... as no one knew I was a Warren rider, I was able to pass myself
off as a wilder when ever Diemis was noted."
"That won't work for me," Ash told him. "Patka knows I'm here, so if I show
up with a dragon in tow, it could cause problems I don't want to cause."
Trap nodded.
"There is a place," he said. "A cave high up on a mountain top, with it's
own lake where Wyndamenth can stay. It's a place only known to a few people
and impossible to get to by anyone on the ground. Diemis and I used it, and
no one would even think about looking for her or you there."
"Who else knows about it?" Ash asked.
Trap knew he was thinking about others who might think to come looking for him.
"Sandor, Tera and Danielle," Trap replied. "You won't have to worry about my
sister or my mate thinking about looking for you there. And as long as
Sandor doesn't know we talked, he won't think about it. It's where we used
to meet whenever I needed to pass on information to him in the past. You'll
be safe there, and it's near enough to where you'll be so Wyndamenth can
still be near you."
"It'll be good to have safe place if needed."
"Good. I'll take you there and show you where it is," he said. "But we'll
have to meet up somewhere away from here so we're not seen leaving together."
"Fine."
Trap thought about what the man planning on doing. Going after the man on
his own. He didn't need to do it that way. He owed the Ash for saving his
life and would help anyway he could to repay him, but then he knew what kind
of man Ash`chenon was and knew he himself would feel the same way if someone
had harmed his family the way Ash's had been harmed.
Vengeance for the death of his child. That was something Trap understood all
to well.
"I understand what why you're doing this, and my offer still stands," he
held up his hand when Ash would have told him once again he couldn't ask.
"As I said you don't have to ask. I offered. I meant what I said, but I'd
still feel better if I could help out in some small way. You'll need someone
to keep you informed of what's going on around you. I can at lease do that.
I still have contacts who knew me as the Shadow. People I trust who can find
out things you might need to know. And I'd feel better knowing you had a
safety valve to pull you out of trouble if needed. What do you say?"

Umm Allen... he offered ;)
